Evolution is doddle. Even Charles Darwin denounced his own theories of evolution before he died. His son picked up the dimly lit torch and carried it on, convincing the world's secular scientists of this BS theory.

Then the agnostic and atheistic FEW who seem to cry the loudest managed to get laws passed prohibiting the teaching of the concept of Divine (or Intelligent) Creation in public schools.

Personally, I don't give any credibility at all toward the theory of evolution. Most of the existing artifacts that scientists claim prove evolution will fit in an average bedroom closet. The proof is just not there.

Me, I prefer to believe that man and I were created by an Intelligent Being. I also prefer to call Him God. (Well, actually Father, but that has to do with my personal and spiritual relationship with Him.)

If I'm not mistaken, it was in 1978 when Louise Joy Brown was touted at the first "test tube baby", that "man created" by conceiving her in a petrie dish. Only secular scientists seem to assume the mentality that it couldn't have been done thousands of years ago, by an Intelligence that will inevitably prove them to be complete IDIOTS! All of their math and science will be turned to crap.

So, the answer to your question is, no, evolution doesn't matter now. If you are a firm believer in the theory of evolution, you'll find out soon enough that it's doddle.

Evolution isn't just something that happened millions of years ago and then it was over. It is happening all the time to organisms all over the earth. That is, they are constantly mutating and constantly being subjected to selective pressures. So, the animals and plants that are on the world this minute, in the future will be replaced by descendants that are different.

Since we understand how evolution works, we can control it and force it to happen in some cases. So, say I want a new kind of rice plant that can grow in places that are drier. The scientists at the rice research institute can use their knowledge of evolution to design experiments that will select out the plants I want....

Bacteria are evolving to survive the medicines we use to get rid of them. Now, people call it resistance, but in fact it is evolution because it is the survival of the fittest. What this means is that at some point, our fancy drugs won't work anymore.

The same thing is happening with insecticides. The insects that eat our food are becoming resistant to the pesticides we use to control them. This is also natural selection, if you like, or evolution and it threatens our food supply.

It is important because without food or medicine that is effective, modern civilization is not possible!

Stephen Jay Gould explained that "evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts do not go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's, but apples did not suspend themselves in mid-air, pending the outcome.... In science, "fact" can only mean "confirmed to such a degree that it would be perverse to withhold provisional assent." I suppose that apples might start to rise tomorrow, but the possibility does not merit equal time in physics classrooms."

The modern synthesis, like its Mendelian and Darwinian antecedents, is a scientific theory. A theory is an attempt to identify and describe relationships between phenomena or things, and generates falsifiable predictions which can be tested through controlled experiments and empirical observation. Speculative or conjectural explanations tend to be called hypotheses, and well tested explanations, theories. Fact tends to mean a datum, an observation, i.e., a fact is obtained by a fairly direct observation. In contrast, a theory is obtained by inference from a body of facts. Fact and theory denote the epistemological status of knowledge; how the knowledge was obtained, what sort of knowledge it is.

In this scientific sense, "facts" are what theories attempt to explain. So, for scientists "theory" and "fact" do not stand in opposition, but rather exist in a reciprocal relationship; for example, it is a "fact" that an apple will fall to the ground if it becomes dislodged from a branch and the "theory" which explains this is the current theory of gravitation. In the same way, heritable variation, natural selection, and response to selection (e.g. in domesticated plants and animals) are "facts", and the generalization or extrapolation beyond these phenomena, and the explanation for them, is the "theory of evolution".

It is because we are all experiencing evolution. It takes place all the time. At least according to theory. I trust evolution till there is some other logical explanation for life form.

For human evolution? It is unclear whether humans are evolving in any interesting sense any longer.

For evolution generally? It matters in science, for to understand how something works, one needs to understand what it is "trying" to do, and this depends on what it was selected for.

I'll quote one of the greatest evolutionary biologists of our time, Theodosius Dobzhansky (1900-1975).

"Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution"

Evolution is the framework to understand the world of living beings. This world is the result of evolution, and therefore it provides the context for any analysis, comparison, or interpretation we make about it.
