Does anyone know if there are any programs out there available to help new moms without maternity leave?

I work for a small company that doesn't comply with the Family Medical Leave Act, have no vacation or sick time (must work for employer for 1 year first) and am currently 4.5 months pregnant. I am the money maker in my family and without some help I will not be able to take more than 2 weeks off.

If anyone knows of any programs or services that can help me spend more time with my infant I would greatly appreciate a reponse. Thank you!

Hi. The other day I discovered I am 17 weeks pregnant. I had no idea since my periods still came on and of fand I had no sickness, and no bump at all. I'm going into hospital soon, can anybody tell me what I'll be told/offered in the way of info and tests and examinations and things? Thanks!

I am still working full-time but it is miserable. I cannot seem to get comfortable. Now I have shooting pain in my back and my upper legs have even been going numb... Is this normal? What can I do to help it? I was planning on working until I have the baby but if it keeps up like this I don't know if I will make it... I toss and turn all night trying to get comfortable but still end up waking up sore. It’s especially bad on my left side…

OK I have had 2 pregnancies (neither started like this) and I know that I have answered a lot of your questions. Now I have one of my own. I got a period on September 23rd. I track my ovulation and I know that I ovulated between October 5th-8th. My husband and I had sex at like 3am on the 8th. I took 3 pregnancy tests all negative. My next scheduled period was supposed to be October 22nd. I started bleeding on October 20th. It has been a strange period so far. (sorry to get so graphic...) It has been quite dark. Brown in the beginning (like old blood) and then it got nearly black. Some clotting ( not abnormal). It doesn't seem like implantation bleeding. it's not light and it hasn't stopped yet. Today my breasts are very tender. I have been cramping all month long. I haven't really had any other pregnancy symptoms. I can't help but worry about it. I have made a doctor's appointment for next Tuesday. I just need some answers until then. Can anyone help?

Ok I'm 28 weeks pregnant, and I can't ever get any sleep at night. I wake up feeling cold but sweating at the same time. And for the past couple weeks it feels as if I need to throw up... I mean at all times it feels this way, it's like it's stuck in my throat and it kind of burns... Well last night I woke up because I had to catch a breath becasue I wasn't breathing or something. Then I woke up and right when I went to the bathroom I threw up. What is this?

I am not really sure but i think i may be pregnant. I had my period on 9/15/06 then i had it again on 9/30/06 and then on 10/15/06 i had a it for like a day and a half and not real heavy. No i am having stomach cramps, small amount of nausea and breast tenderness. But now i dont know which date to follow for my last period.
Any advice

She said that it had something to do with the white cells but that it was not that low where they would be concern. But she did not explain exactly what this meant. Does anyone know???

I think I have this. I have an appt with my doctor tomorrow and will discuss it with her, but just wanted to know if anyone else has contracted this while pregnant, and if you took any special precautions.

My son brings home all sorts of nasty diseases from pre-school, so I probably got this from him.

I am 7 1/2 months pregnant-we tried for a long time to get pregnant and are taking the opportunity to not find out what we are having-but even when people ask "what are you having?" My reponse to them doesn't seem to phase them from telling me what they assume I am having-they seem to think because of the way I am carrying-or the way they carried or their sister or friend-they know what I am having-my question is-what do I say to these people who seem to think that they know better than me, or my Dr. at that?? I want to be rude-I want to tell them what I really think of their opinion-and why I don't want to hear it-but everyone seems to think that "its just my emotions", Everyones opinion is ruining my fun-what do you suppose I do?? or say at that??

I am nervous because I am a little over eight weeks and all of a sudden I don't feel anything. I just don't feel pregnant. I was sick to my stomach for a week and now it's gone. My discharge has even slowed down, my breasts don't seem as large and I still have a stretchy feeling in my abdomen. Does this sound normal?

My husband and I just recently found out we were expecting our first child. Now we are thinking of some names. The girl name was very easy to pick, but picking a boy's name seems to be kind of hard. When I was 21 I got pregnant and had a misscarraige in my 2nd month. I was told that my breast will still leak because I was pregnant. Usually a couple of days before my period this happens and when I get it, it stops. for the last 2 weeks if I touch my nipples it will leak. They dont hurt but they do feel strange. Has anyone ever had this happen to them.

i am 32 weeks i just got the flu shot for the first time,but after five days i had high fever and it lasted for 4 days.now the fever is gone but i feel like hot inside and i sweat.coulded this happend from the flu shot?what can i do to make myself feel better?did anybody experience this?
