I would look into getting it right away in case something has to be ordered. Also please look at the website www.cotlife2000.com. This is a site that a forensic chemist in N. Zealand created to spread the word about the chemicals used in standard crib mattresses and how they may contribute to SIDS. Not to scare you but I have three babies and one on the way and I was so thankful to come across this information before I had my first child. You can buy all natural crib mattresses that haven't been treated with these fire retardants (made up of arsenic, antimony and phosphorous). Check out www.ecobaby.com. This site also has great information on the hidden dangers of these chemicals that are used in standard crib mattresses. Also, www.naturepedic.com is a great place for safe crib mattresses. Standard crib mattresses have a vinyl/PVC cover that off-gasses for years and is not at all good for a baby's delicate nervous system. You can also purchase a cover called the BabeSafe mattress cover to put over a standard crib mattress if you already have one, to make it safe. It is made of polyethelene plastic (safe plastic) and it seals off the chemicals in the mattress to protect your baby. Okay, well not exactly what you asked for but hopefully you will find it important and informative. I think it is definitely worth your time to check out www.cotlife2000.com and www.ecobaby.com.

8-0 You haven't gotten any thing yet!? Trust me I just had a baby and the longer you wait the worse. If your worried about finances start getting a little bit at a time. Make a list of everything you want to get and start price shopping. I was surprised myself but Big Lots has name brands really cheap. I got a a box (7 refillables) of pampers wipes for a little over $9. II've also seen carseats, swings, and tummy time toys inexpensive there. Remeber baby are expensive so its better to econimize. If you are getting magazines like Child or American baby cut out the cupons. All this will help in the long run if you plan on staying home for a while after the baby's born.

As for the crib if you want to put it together get it now but if someone else is willing to do it you can wait til about 8 months. Just don't wait til the last 2 months to get everything because unless someone is willing to push you around in a wheel chair and stop ever 30 minutes to go to the bathroom its going to be hard.

I didn't know this since I was a new mom but a mega pack of diapers only lasted about a week for my newborn so I suggest you get a few to start with. Try diffrent brands. For me with pampers her poop would come out of the diapers but hugges and walmart's whitecloud worked really well.

I'm 27 weeks pg and just started to buy the crib and all the stuff. I'm a very well organized person and I hate leaving everything for the last minute. I like to plan ahead and also work with my finances so I don't have to buy everything at the same time but somethings now, somethings next month, somethings on december...that's what I'm doing. My sister is throwing me a baby shower on the 1st week of december so I'm registering for the things that I need and that I haven't bought yet. Good luck

I wouldn't put it off to much longer. Farther along in the pregnancy you will probably be getting tired easier and not be able to do that much in one day.
Start looking into what kind of crib you want, Target has great reviews that people have posted, I usually look at those before I buy anything, to see what people like and dislike.
But I would get the crib soon, you never know how soon the baby is going to come.....

You can start when you want and since you know you have no chance of miscarriage it would be perfectly fine to buy it now I already have everything to get a head start, and I am 5 months, the crib I am getting brand new from my sister cause her baby sleeps in something else plus she is moving out of state, so if you want and are too excited to wait buy it now

I'll say now but I'll also tell you not to buy a lot of clothes I wanted to start buying 2 weeks ago and my hubby tol me to wait because we might get a lot of gifts from family and friends, I thought they would give me things after the baby is born since I decided not to have a baby shower but so far I have gotten my baby's entire wardrobe my mom and sister in law bought everything I was going to buy so Im glad I listen to my husband. Think about that you are going to be tired and depending where you live its getting cold already so start now if you want.

Now would be fine. The earlier the better because you don't want to be 8 1/2 months pregnant and picking out baby furniture when you can barely walk.

If you might have a baby shower, you will want to register for most of your things. Now is a great time to start setting up the baby's room.
