I used coco butter and the elastin lotion from Motherhood maternity. I gained 40 lbs with my first one and didn't get a single stretch mark. I would recommend two main things to do, not necessarily what lotion you use:
1. Don't itch your belly! When the skin stretches, it gets itchy. This can really cause the stretch marks. (think of as your tearing the underlying skin) Instead, gently rub the area that's itchy.
2. Use plenty of lotion. I carried a smaller bottle of the coco butter with me and reapplied it as I needed when it got itchy.
Oh yeah, and don't think your belly is the only place you get stretch marks. Put that lotion all over your hips, and boobs too!
Good luck!

I alternated using shea butter one time and pure sweet almond oil the other. I got really really huge (3 weeks over, midwives let you go that long) and not a single stretch mark any where. I am a tiny person when not pregnant and no one can believe that I don't have a mark!
Good luck!

I use Palmer's Cocoa Butter & Vitamin E Itch Spray. I started using it as soon as I found out I was pregnant. I will be 25 weeks tomorrow and I don't have any stretch marks yet (Thank God, but knock on wood!). I use it about1-2 times a day.
Good luck!

Palmer's Stretch Mark Lotion/Massage Cream are both great. I never got the first stretch mark. I lotioned up from shoulders to knees every day. Also, drink a lot of water to keep hydrated. Cutting out caffeine and sugar helps too.

Palmer's cocoa butter with vitamin E, if it runs in the family though then you are more in likely to get them also but it will help reduce them if that is the case but no matter what to help prevent them you can use that lotion, and when you take showers use a loofah and massage you stomach and hips it will help keep the blood circulating which causes stretchmarks.

i can remember the name of the brand, but cocoa butter, or shea butter. You can get this in kingsoopers or rite aid..It has a pic of a pregnant woman on the front of the bottle. A friend of mine used Vasoline intensive care on her stomach and she has no marks. Also use Bergamont oil or baby oil before drying yourself when getting out of shower and pat yourself dry..dont rub.

Tsk. Do you think that if ANY of them worked, that women would actually let themselves get stretch marks?
It's in the genes. Either you get them or you don't, regardless of what cream you use or don't use.
Good luck, though!

oohhh that's an unsolved mistery.....You are gonna get them probably (75% of women do) and usually you have it in your genes. If your mom got them , that's almost for sure that you will. My best friend spent hundreds of dollar on lotions and creams and she got them anyway (her mom did) ...my cousin used her regular body moisture lotion and she didn't get a single one (her mom didn't).....but I know the feeling...I'm putting on Mustela Stretch mark cream for mother to be...I'm 27 weeks pg and don't have one YET!! I do hope I stay that way........
