Yesterday, while listening to NPR I heard the most interesting interview about how extreme political beliefs are processed in the brain. Basically, the study concluded, that the more extreme the political belief, the less likely it is to come from the most rational part of the brain. Or - the further away from center or moderate an opinion is the less rational the thought. This was not a study about politics, but a study of brain activity and its relation to political idealogy. Any comments or thoughts . . . Can anyone site the study - I was in the car and did not have pen an paper . . . Thanks.

Let me go into a little depth here.....You pay your hard earned money whether it is 25 dollars or 700 dollars to go watch a musician(s)

Do you find it appropriate that they preach their political views whether you agree with them or not.

I am not wanting to deny them of their constitutional right of freedom of speech and expresion, but money is coming out of my pocket to watch and hear them sing their songs and talk about those things......

I don't want to hear...."I love George Bush" or "I hate George Bush"

I can understand a comedy show, a political lecture, a debate, etc.....

God helps them who help themselves...

Should able-bodied people be "kept" on welfare their whole lives?

Would young gang members have the TIME and energy to be out shooting and robbing if the HAD to stay in school and GET A JOB?

Why don't we make the KIDS of welfare moms get a job at 16 like I had to?

Throwing money at them is NOT the answer. They need to learn to fend for themselves with ONLY a helping hand.
The more FREE things they get as children the more ENTITLED they feel about getting FREE things as an adult.

You are so mean to the kids RLP...no I'm not. The working poor can't get this for their kids BUT they at least instill a work ethic in their kids that is TOTALLY lacking in the people receiving welfare.

GOD HELPS THEM WHO HELP THEMSELVES...

Few days ago at the debate pretty much every single Republican hopeful bashed Bush. Bashed his policies. Bashed his handling of the war. Said he ran as a conservative, but conducted business like a liberal.

So which is it Repubs? Has Bush done a poor job?

Or were they all lying?

If you disagree with someone is it just easy to write them off as a retard rather than answer their question? There used to be actual debate here about 7 months ago but it has all turned into childish name calling. Both sides are doing it.

We actually have 4,000 more in reserve, so that gives us a total of 10,000 nuclear missles.
I'm not asking this to cause a sh1t storm...
but, if you were president of Iran or North korea (or any country other then the US for that matter) wouldn't keeping up with nuclear technology be part of your country's national security? As a leader you do have a responsibility to defend your nation and your people.
If you weren't an American citizen (or if you are not one) how safe would you feel having a foreign country owning 10,000 nuclear missles?

Not talking about wage slavery or anything like that. I have heard it exists in Sudan, but I also have read articles about slaves in places like France working as housemaids. Is that really true? How does it happen?

I assume in the modern age these are exploited people and not individuals from wealthy nations being enslaved. I do not think it would be possible to enslave someone from a place like the US.

Mexico, which annually deports more illegal aliens than the United
States does, has much to teach us about how to handle immigration;
under Mexican law, it is a felony to be an illegal alien. As the
Supreme Court and politicians seek to bring U.S. law in line with
foreign legal norms, it's noteworthy that no one has argued that the
United States look at what Mexico might teach us about how to solve our
illegal-immigration problem. Mexico has a single, streamlined law,
seeking to ensure that foreign visitors and immigrants are: _ In the
country legally. _ Have the means to sustain themselves economically.

Is this more or less the rules of propaganda, you just keep blindly repeating what you WANT to be the truth until enough people actually accept it?
Liberals never accept that Bill Clinton broke the law, they just keep repeating that the impeachment was about sex. They love a whistleblower, unless the whistleblower works for the Vice President.
It is the same with ALL their arguments, whether it be about gun ownership, economics, Communism, or whatever. They NEVER reason, but accept blindly what their masters say.
Does this indicate that they are mindless robots or evil creatures who KNOW but do not care about the consequences of their rhetoric?

Open question to President Bush;
Sir, why can't you tell the truth for just 12 hours. Not that I think Mr. Bush will respond on this, but I thought it was a good question. If we went in to war for terrorists, why have we become the terrorists. If we went for oil, why are gas prices higher than ever in history? If we went to kill the bad guys why are we still just sending men over there to be killed for no apparent reason? Can you tell the truth just once and let us know why our economy is ruined, why we either haven't finnished the war, or pulled out, or why your solution to the American people wanting out of the war was to send another 20,000 troops over there? Why not send enough to do the job once and for all? Who is making all the money that is taken out of the American peoples pockets? What makes you think God wants American soldiers to die for something you won't tell the truth about?
Why not give us the chance to hear you say something truthful? We're Waiting.
