How can Councillor John Taylor of the Dukinfield ward have this crusade against the BNP saying that they are all thugs, when he himself is meeting a thug that kept a family in fear of violence for 4 years.

My friend asked me this question. I didn't have any answers for her, only more questions. Like, how exactly would we be cut off from our food supply, and how would people get to the food that was stored?

But she wanted an answer so I just came here...

OH and your answer is basically useless to me unless you CITE SOURCES! THANKS!

let them at least learn the concept of work and responsibility, let them build roads or answer phones or drop bombs, fill government positions wilth conscripted workers for a smallish salary and maybe food and board. (I guess there would need to be an exemption for the college bound or a deferment) It's not a perfect plan but what do you think of the general concept...?

It seems a great number of you are okay with funding the continued dropping of bombs in Iraq to kill ter'rists, even if a few hundred thousand innocent people are harmed in the process. But, you vehemently oppose a children's healthcare bill that may benefit a few more people than it is intended to benefit . Why is that?

The occupation of an embassy is considered an act of war. So wouldn't that mean that we have technically been at war with Iran since the late 70s? We have no formal relations with Iran and there has never been a peace treaty signed.

It looks like they want to be the only voice heard. Why would that be???

The USA was the first to harness the power of the atom for, first weapons use and then energy production.
Kind of like being the only guy on the block with a .44 magnum.
and not only that, we used it, needlessly! Japan had tried to broker a surrender, but the US war machine wanted to scare the USSR and others with this show of might and Japan was a reasonable target for such a purpose.
Anyway, I know that if I had a bully with a .44 on my street, I would want to be able protect myself with an equal level of menace (I do not pretend otherwise)
If the USA, Russia, France, India, England and China, have 'the bomb', why stop other countries from developing it? these countries are in no means intrinsically better or nicer or less apt to use it (remember we did, as soon as we had it)
Isn't this just additional motivation for smaller countries to actually WANT "the bomb"?
Don't they have a right to be scared of the existing superpowers?

I can't belive the same tired points are not resolved and still being debated, in my houseee no less, no plane found at Pennsylvania site, no prop engine found at Pentagon, no record of terrorists on plane. What's the best succinct argument to counter this rubbish. I usually just ask, how is Government/media telling public that Flight 93 crashes in Pennsylvania than not putting plane there, go to supporting their cover up?

It seems like every time there is a question about NAFTA half the responses are either about poor quality products from China or jobs lost to off shoring.

NAFTA is the North American Free Trade Agreement. It is between Canada, the US and Mexico. It has nothing to do with call center jobs going to India or lead painted toys coming from China.

NO GAS "December 1st – December 10th 2007". Conserve the gas you have just go to work or school no joy riding...its time to take a stand against this gas issue once again....these Oil companies are making billions off of gas, and the price is still rising. Their bank accounts are getting larger and larger. They could use 1 billion dollars to help the middle and lower class afford gas.

America’s technology has improved so much over time, but mpg is still the same since the 80's? We can send a guy to the moon; make smaller cell phones, but can’t get better gas mileage or lower gas price's....that's a joke. They are making cars that get better gas mileage but who wants to pay $25,000 for a Prius (they look so weird) that’s not fun to drive. Have you ever tried to trade in your old car for a new one? Making new cars with better MPG really doesn’t help us who have older cars with bad MPG. Right now gas is close to $3.50.....so what, should we wait until their charging us $6.00 a gallon. At $6.00 a gallon if you have a 23 gallon tank you'll only spend $138.00 to fill up. That’s not bad right? But when Minimum wage is below $7.00 per hour, it’s a decision between food or gas.

I know we have to use gas, but do we have to pay so much. When will they make enough money from gas to give us a break...ExxonMobil is playing the American people (http://www.usatoday.com/money/companies/earnings/2005-10-27-xom_x.htm) check out this site for profits.

Supply and demand...yeah if our supply is so low why are we still making cars that run off of fossil fuels. They really mean their supply in their accounts are low and there demanding more money, which can be considered blood money. I mean are they using the money to build a new universe.

So if you can, please don't buy gas "December 1st – December 10th 2007". Its gonna be hard, many say it’s impossible. And some say it won’t make a difference. They said the same thing to Columbus when he sailed west and Rosa Parks when she wouldn’t give up her seat on a bus one afternoon. This isn’t a black or white issue or even a big car small car issue; but its time we take a stand against this gas issue. I know we are all tired of talking about it, so let’s do something, even if we can show them that we know and we aren’t fools, let’s do something. Something is better is better than nothing.

I know most of us are tired of spending all our money on gas. I can buy a pair of shoes every time I fill up. I can use gas money to eat at red lobster everyday (I know my big truck drivers know what I’m talking about).... we got people dying because of this liquid gold, I had a cousin who was killed b/c of gas?

So try to spread the word send this message to at least 3 other people... we need to show these oil tycoons what’s up. Don’t forget now "December 1st – December 10th 2007". Hundreds of people are joining in....let’s turn it to thousands or millions or let’s make some billions like Exxon does."

-God Bless America
