Our infant mortality rates # 48 in the world, our overall health # 72, freedom of the press# 44 and literacy # 55. When most of the industrialized world has healthcare for everyone and we owe China 1 trillion dollars.
We need to stop thinking that being the greatest country in the world is a birth right and we are now only coasting on the achievements of earlier generations. Should our goverment not stop living the moral high ground, when we have a president that believes it is okay to torture people or making them dissappear without a trial. Before voting please consider these points. Is it really important to keep gays from marrying when we take away money from our social security to fuel the war.

I posed the question, more concisely and with quite a bit of added detail about 12 hours ago, and have not received one answer. I am curious, because I have received at least a few answers to every question I have ever asked here, from very serious, to quite ridiculous, until now.

When I went back to look at the question as it appears on the board, I notice that there is no customary link below it to click on to "Answer this Queston". I had a lot of trouble with the spell checker. It seemed to have gotten stuck or something and it took quite a while from the time I typed it, to the time I presumed that it was posted.

Now, due to the technical difficulties I just described, and the fact that there is no link in which to click to answer the question (NOT because I am having an ego problem about my question not being answered), I wanted to try a second time to get some feedback on the subject without breaking the rules and double posting.

Russia Led Arms Sales to Developing World in ’05
By THOM SHANKER
WASHINGTON, Oct. 28 — Russia surpassed the United States in 2005 as the leader in weapons deals with the developing world, and its new agreements included selling $700 million in surface-to-air missiles to Iran and eight new aerial refueling tankers to China, according to a new Congressional study.

Those weapons deals were part of the highly competitive global arms bazaar in the developing world that grew to $30.2 billion in 2005, up from $26.4 billion in 2004. It is a market that the United States has regularly dominated.

Russia’s agreements with Iran are not the biggest part of its total sales — India and China are its principal buyers. But the sales to improve Iran’s air-defense system are particularly troubling to the United States because they would complicate the task of Pentagon planners should the president order airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear weapons facilities.
