Mr. Ahmadinejad is the mouthpiece for the radical mullahs that are actually running Iran. He's little more than a terrorist himself. You may remember that he was the leader of the group that stormed the American Embassy and took 51 Americans hostage for 444 days under the ineffectual administration of Jimmy Carter. Iranian leadership wants to be the preemminent party in the Middle East and speak for all Muslims. The will not be satisfied until everyone who doesn't believe in thir religion is converted or dead. They are the driving force behind the insurgency in Iraq, and if we bug out of Iraq before the country is stabilized, there will be no stopping them. That would result in more attacks on our own shores.
The US was right in backing Saddam in the early years because he was battling the Iranians and keeping them busy over there so that they wouldn't be exporting their terror to Europe and the USA, but Saddam got to the stage where he was out of control and had to be removed because he couldn't be trusted. Joe Wilson is a liar when he says that there was no evidence that Saddam was seking WMD's He had agents in Niger seeking yellowcake uranium.
All in all I think that it's impossible to contain Iran. I anticipate that they will develop a WMD and they will use it to threaten Israel as their wackjob President has repeatedly stated that Israel has no right to exist. If they use a WMD against Israel, the Isralies will retaliate with their own, and they will strike out against all of the countries that have been threatening them; Iran, Syria, saudi Arabia, etc. You can bet that the attention seeking wackjobs in North korea would also join in. The result would be a nuclear winter that would probably destroy all life on Earth as we know it.
That's why we can't cut and run in Iraq whether the Democrats like it or not.

Iran is a great country, from what I hear, and (most of) the Persians I've met are good people. As for Ahmadinejad? He's crazy as a loon, and is not to be trusted. I feel sorry for the Iranian people.

I feel fear and pity for the Iranian people that labor under the theological tyranny of those psychotic Mullahs.
The Persians (I know that Iran is composed of people of many different ethnic and religious extractions, but for the sake of brevity, I'll refer to the Iranian people as Persians), don't want the war and international isolation that Mahmoud and the Clerics are gearing their country up for: they want peace and stability---I was surprised to learn that the bulk of the Persians are quite fond of western culture; we just need to keep the influence of Hollywood from them.
