Hey - right I have a 19 year old semi retired mare who suffers from COPD (broken wind) during the summer she lives out so has no probs with it at all as shes away from dust etc - but with the winter rapidly approaching Im between two minds whether to bring her in for the winter or not... even when I soak her hay and dampen her bedding she still gets quite congested and coughy. But the thoughts of leaving her out - even though shs quite hardy and shed be well rugged up and checked on breaks my heart - its like, which option is better - to leave her out which is better for her - or bring her in which is more so better for me as I wont be thinking of her out all night in the wind and rain (I live in Ireland!) What would you guys do in my predictament?
Honest answers please and thanks!
xx

Last month i got a horse psychic out to talk to one of my horses she said he was worried about getting sent away i assured him he was with me for good but now he has turned into a nightmare!

He won't listen to any of my commands and he used to ride like a dream, he WON'T let me pick his hooves (he tries to lie down on me when i try), he WON'T let me put his bridle on (No matter how i hold his head and stick my finger in his mouth he won't take the bit). These problems aren't just me either he won't co-operate for anyone now.

He has been checked by the vet and there are no health problems and as i am the only person who has ever ridden him there has been nothing that has spooked him etc..

I really don't know what to do now. I feel he was only being good because he wanted to impress and now he knows he aint going anywhere he just thinks "screw her"!

I'm finding that i don't want to ride him because it's just SOOO hard to get him ready!

:How much alfalfa. I dont want to over feed her!
:Exercise helping the sand get out of her stomach?

Please please please help me. She is my world and i cant believe they didnt take care of her.

I just want some reviews before thinking about buying this saddle, my Arabian doesnt fit in many western saddles and getting a custom one is too $$$ but I want a saddle for my friends to ride in but is also comfortable enough for my horse.

I like this horse's looks, and I'm wondering if he's worth the asking price? What are your opinions (knowledgeable horse people) and would you pay this much for this horse? I'm looking for a gentle horse my daughter can learn to ride on. My horses are all too green for a youngster. What would be a good offer, if you think this horse is overpriced? Thanks for your help!

i have a small, fenceless arena (we havnt bought fenceing for it yet, and it probly wont happen any time soon) and i practice pleasure with my western horse. my horse pays pretty good attention to me untill we're facing the barn, or passing by it. then he speeds up and looses his almost perfect head set, or he side steps toward the barn and over-reacts to every little move i make. someone said to get a crop or riding whip and some spurs to tell him who's boss, but i dont want to resort to being so forcefull and mean. how do i get him to focus on me and what im trying to teach him, instead of thinking constantly about the barn and his friends?

One of my boarded horses urinates & defecates frequently right under the awning where all the shade is and the horses like to stand. This is also where the water buckets are. She is the Alpha mare. Why does she do this and more impotantly how can I get her to move to a different location? She is the only horse that does this in the area, everyone else goes out in the field!!

I took my horse to a fun show in June. He did well. I did direct rein. Because he simply doesnt know how to neck rein. We didnt place in pleasure and i think thats why. How can i train him to neck rein in a month? Before taking him to another show.

Also how can i make his trot easier to ride. Its easy if you post it but im not a english rider and i dont do english classes. I would but i do not have a hunt coat or breeches. How can i get him slower without pulling on his face. I have tried half halts but he ignores it and keep going. To even get him to stop i have to snap on his bit. He listens better when i ride him in a halter but i cant at shows.

THANKSS =]

I know I have already asked loads of questions about my baby but I like to have others opinions and well he is a special boy!! He also has a cleft pallet and although I know the basics about it and how it affects the horse im not really that knowledgeable about it and would like to know and understand more about it!! I have never come across anyone who has a horse with a cleft pallet or even anyone who knows a horse with one! Seems very rare?? Apparently they normally die as babies?? Does anyone know anymore about it?? Would be good to hear other peoples experience of i!!

My friend wants a horse. he wants a cheap foal for his first horse so that he can raise it and train it like i did with my horse, but i had several older horses before her and had experience with them. I'm trying to tell him not to get a foal for a first horse and he needs an older horse first, so he can learn from it and gain experience with horses. he works with his grandpas horses sometimes during the summer, but i believe he needs to own one and care for it 24/7 all the time to really understand and be able to train a foal for the first time. should he get a foal for a first horse, or listen to me and get an older one to have for a year to learn from before trying it with a foal?
