A dressage saddle is a type of english saddle. There isn't such thing as a "regular" english saddle, just different types of english saddles meant for different purposes.

Dressage saddles have long straight flaps, deeper seats, and are designed to keep the rider's leg long and underneath of them.

Close-contact/jumping saddles are meant for hunter/jumpers, they have a shorter, more forward flaps, and usually a shallower seat. It's designed to put the rider in the best position for jumping fences.

All-purpose saddles are meant to be a cross between close-contact and dressage saddles so that you can do both disciplines without changing saddles. I haven't seen many that succeeded in this purpose very well personally, but they are a few good ones. They have a more forward flap that the dressage saddle, but not as much as the close-contact.

Cutback/Lane fox saddles are for saddleseat, I believe they're designed to shift the rider's weight back farther so the horse's shoulders can be more elevated. They have a much larger seat than most other english saddles (an average english saddle's seat measures 15-18", whereas these saddles come in sizes like 19-21".) The flaps are long, straight, and wide. Unlike many other english saddles you don't see any padding on the flap.

im going to assume that when you say a "regular" english saddle that you mean an all-purpose english saddle. the difference is that the dressage saddle:

1. has a deeper seat

2. the leg flaps are straight (they do not curve out in front of the saddle like w/ an all purpose or jumping saddle)

3. the knee rolls are way thinner/smaller/have less padding

dressage saddles have longer, straighter knee rolls and a hight back. They also only come in black, while a regular english saddle can be and natural leather color.
