Media & Journalism - December 2007

I'm talking about the news articles on the main page, shouldn’t a website of Yahoo's stature and popularity be precise with grammar and spelling? It's really poor and careless.

It used to be totally news stories. Now it's nothing but sleazy talk shows like Nancy Grace and entertainment.

Why don't they change the name of the network? There's no news involved!

Copy and Paste Journalism
Now a days, a modern journalism is just knowing two keystrokes. Copy and paste. Or Ctrl + A, Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V.

I am an avid news lover and readers. I follow lots of stories because they are my food and drink. I love intentional and national news. But I found out that the majority of reporters just use copy and paste method from one single source. It could be an AP, Router, AFP or BBC. It is really shameful journalism. The funniest thing is, if the original reporter makes any kind of error that error will propagate in all major news medias. Wow! What happened true journalism? Is it plagiarism? Do you think copy and paste makes some one a true reporter? Now I don’t have any trust what I am reading from news and watching from TV. Some times I have to call to the place where the event happened and ask the people. That is citizen journalism. They will tell you the truth because they don’t benefit by spicing the story.

Is there any truth to this? Has there been any other source that has confirmed or denied this?

There's a local paper looking for journalists. I have a little expierence with a different local paper that's distributed monthly....I've done 3 articles for them. Anyway, this new paper is on a much larger scale but I want to get in so badly. My question is do I show up with my resume/cover letter/writing samples when I know the managing editor is going to be there and ask to give it to him directly? Or do I submit it via email the way the help wanted ad said? I only ask because its a journalism position, so I feel like being bold and showing up there would show my capability. Which do I do?

I have an old newspaper from Wednesday, October 4, 1995. The front page news that day announced that O.J. was found 'not guilty' of the murder of his wife & Ron Goldman. How much do you think the paper could be worth, & should I hold on to it? Or, should I try to sell it? Anyone interested?!

Opinions, please. Thanks for your time, in advance.

Did you see much on FOX NEWS CHANNEL over the Christmas time? Wasn't it refreshing to hear many of them unashamedly talking about Jesus, and His birth? And even telling us 'MERRY CHRISTMAS' instead of 'Happy Holidays' ? Don't you believe God will bless Fox News for not being 'politically correct'?

Who and Why. Also, if you could include links to news articles or wikipedia pages it would be much appreciated.

In the back of everyone's mind sits a dark little bug that fascinates about how a villain’s mind works. It's hard for "normal" people to imagine doing what our morals will not allow us to do.

I was good friends with a guy in high school. Shortly after I graduated I heard the news that my friend had tortured another individual for several hours, before smashing his victim’s head in with a large rock. I was in shock that my good friend was capable of such a horrific thing! He was executed summer of 2007 for his crime. It got me thinking... How could I allow someone with an ability to act on his evil impulses to be so close to me? Nonetheless, I still consider him a good friend.

Right now the most recent news story says:

"Official: Bhutto killed by shrapnel"

then right above that in big letters with a bright yellow background

"Benazir Bhutto died from hitting her car's sunroof; no bullet or shrapnel found in her, Pakistan’s Interior Ministry says."

Pick a story and go with it.
