I'm talking about the news articles on the main page, shouldn’t a website of Yahoo's stature and popularity be precise with grammar and spelling? It's really poor and careless.

There seems to be a general carelessness these days with regard to grammar, spelling and punctuation.
I find that I cannot even understand some of the questions and answers on this site but, as you say, the main page should set a higher standard.
Mind you, life in general now seems to have that 'couldn't care less' attitude and most readers probably don't even notice the blatant mistakes.
You can no doubt tell that I am not a young man and perhaps that is why I really do hate slovenly work or behaviour, in any form.

The best examples I've seen of proper English are in "Time" magazine, "News Week" etc.
