"Fair"? Like is it fair that they sensationalize things like that, but completely avoid other, highly relevant stories because they don't want to be socially responsible or they don't want to piss off people in power?

The media has screwed priorities. Natural disasters are perfect for them because they are HUGE stories, and since they were an "act of God," there's nobody to get pissed off at them for covering it or accuse them of a political bias.

It would seem so.

However, the last I checked, sensationalism is unethical; and it seems the media has forgotten that.

But for the battle of ratings --- which, in turn, brings a lot of money to the TV networks and publishing companies --- sensationalism is a very potent weapon.

Yes, people want to know the whole truth on what is happening around them. But if the media resorts to making mountains out of mole-hills, then that is being irresponsible of the media.

No. The media sensationalize everything for their own benefit. They don't seem to care who gets hurt as long as they get a picture or a story. They seem to be in competition with lawyers for the greedy of the year award.
