The war in Iraq, is it a just war against America's terroist enemies or is it a war that is killing our service women and men and slaughtering innocent Iraqi civilians for the profits of big oil corporations? What is the American people's opinion here?

Growing up in this country I was taught that we are the land of the free. Freedom is what makes everyone else want to live here. Everyday I see more and more of our freedom being taken from us and no one is doing anything about it. It was nice to see the Democrats win the elections this year, because that says that the majority of people are tired of the current goverment, but where is the outrage? My parents protested the war in Vietnam because the american people were tricked into going to war over there and because our families and friends were getting killed in a war that we didn't belong. We are doing the same thing in Iraq and the only protests I see are the occassional parents that lost a child. Make sure you remember what is at stake the next time you vote and be sure to step up when called on to take action against this corrupt and unpatriotic goverment. Fight for your personal freedoms before you don't have any left.

I recently found out I have very little time left in my life. With sure dearh I have found myself thinking of things that I am ashamed to say didn't catch my attention when it happened. So I'm hoping someone can please tell me why in the hell the strongest country in the world, the US, didn't step in a save many of the lives that were taken during the genocide in Rawanda. We certainly don't mind going into a country and blowing it up, killing many inncent people, women, and kids are under the pretense of keeping us free. So how could we have dropped the ball so badly during the genocide...can someone please explain this to me?

Civil war is defined in the dictionary as "a war between political factions or regions within the same country."
Do you believe it is possible for the United States to achieve victory in Iraq?
Victory is defined in the dictionary as "a success or triumph over an enemy in battle".

On May 2, 2003 President Bush declared (with a huge banner behind him on an aircraft carrier) that it was "mission accomplished" in Iraq.
Yesterday, in a speech he said, "We will not leave Iraq until the mission is accomplished."
Which one was a lie? Or was it both of those statements? They can't *both* be true -- either the mission is accomplished or it isn't...?

The Arabs came to the middle east in 7th Century AD from what is now Saudi Arabia and took by force the entire Middle East and North Africa. The Jews, like my people the Assyrians, are native peoples who lost their land, and wanted it back. There are no such race of people as "Palestinians", the people now referred to as Palestinians are simply Arabs who settled in the area known as Palestine/Philistinia. The real palestinians are now extinct, they were settlers from the Agean Islands called the Peleset, who arrived in around 1000BC, (before arabs had even been mentioned in history!) the name gradually being changed to Philisinia, and then Palestine. Prior to Islam, Arabs were either non existent in most countries outside what is now Saudi Arabia(Iraq,Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Israel/Palestine, Tunisia etc) or were non native immigrant minorities. Some people seem to be under the misaprehension that Arabs have lived in the above countries for thousands of years, which is utter rubbish.

I fully accept that each US and UK death in Iraq is a tragedy. However, the reall violence is being perpetuated in what is in reality a civil war, with us being caught up in the middle. How was Saddam Hussein able to keep a lid on the festering unrest, and why can't we?
