You may restrict your answer to the U.S. only or place any other geographical restriction on your response. I have tried to unload the question; hence I did not ask what percentage is uninformed on 'important' issues as what is important to some may not be to others. I posed the question as 'uninformed'. For the context of this question that means not having gathered sufficient data to launch a logical and supportable opinion on an issue.

I don't know if the media is being controlled buy the goverment. What I mean it seems we are not focusing on the real problem in Iraq. We have no business with any of these countries. What is the world coming too?

There are people in Africa who have computers. If any of them use Yahoo, I would like to see what their opinions are of the African poverty situation. Perhaps Yahoo could make a special Yahoo Africa section for their answers?

There's lots of banter and gossip on this site which is all good fun, but perhaps we can maybe address a real issue that effects all of us for once and try to come up with real answers. How did those 4 members of British society decide to take their own life and as many others as they could with them one year ago today. How could they decide to cause missery and suffering to all the families that were grieving for all to see again today.

Perhaps more importantly how can we engage with the Muslim community in all countries to ensure that these awful events such as 9/11 and 7/7 don't ever happen again and that Muslims can live in peace and harmony with the rest of society, without the fear of persecution and descrimination.

This is the last question I ask today, perhaps we can stop all the gossip and all the silly answers for a bit and try and come up with some answers in this unique and wonderful forum that democracy and freedom has provided us with. We owe it to the victims of 7/7.

Does Tom Cruise have any valid points in his rambling? Is the media just trying to stir up trouble? Give your opinion and some insights.

Call me a sceptic if you will but it is all good for his image and any celeb banging on about charities won't get my respect until they donate a huge wadge of cash themselves!

from where I'm sitting (Canada) the tone of discourse amongst the divided opinions seems pretty polarized. Do these differences permiate everyday life?

I ask, because most Americans I know live in "blue states" mostly here on the west coast.. I see pundits like Al Franken or Jon Stewart on one hand and Bill O'Reilly, Tucker Carlson, Anne Coulter on the other.. I mean, I realize its just TV - but the two sides seem to hate each other and are diametrically opposed.. whats' going on? will there ever be room for common ground?? at what point does the rhetoric cease? at the end of the day to you respect each other as Americans or resent each other for betraying one each side seems to hold as national "ideals"...

I realize this is a broad topic - just interested in the perspective of the "average American"...

I am the only one on my block who recycles. And I notice that sometimes there is a lot of waste. We need to recycle to help preserve our resources for future generations so we don't turn into cannibals. Like for example, the Easter Islanders. They used up all of their resources by making these stupi stone statues. And towards the end they had no other food, so they had to east eachother.
