It seems as if Bush thinks Global Warming is simply a myth. Geez, isn't a president or leader supposed to be someone who's smart?

You are right a President is suppose to be a smart person. But Bush is what you get when all the old, rich, christians vote. They out number us normal people. Bush thinks Global warming is a joke, because he believes that God is the one who protects us, and gives us air to breathe. Not the Earth! Not Science! Not anything that takes brain power to understand. He's a ignorant ******!

Because global warming is like, unproven? And leaders who don't buy into every fad that comes along are the smart ones?

Before plunging everyone back into the 18th century, a *real* leader had better make triple-sure that there is something more than hot air behind 'global warming', and that it isn't due to something like oh, I don't know... THE SUN?!

It wasn't all that long ago that the computer climate models that the left now worships were telling us that global *cooling* was on the way, and the scare mongers were demanding that we warm the place up.

Leadership is about separating fact from fiction, not using fear to advance an anti-capitalist, anti-human agenda.

He has stated he believes in Global warming he just does not believe it is caused by Man alone. That most of it is a natural occurrence in the cycle of the world. Global warming is a natural cycle, however we are speeding up the process and our grandchildren will pay a large price for this if not our children. Currently I do not believe we can stop the pace of global warming but prepare for what is to come. Mother nature has a way of rejuvenation and part of that is an Ice Age. Do some research on Ice Cores from Antarctica, Greenland and the North Pole you will find that we have had several cool downs through out the history of the world. Bush is trying to do a cover up but what most politicians fail to realize this is not the late 1800's or early 1900's the average citizen is smarter than most politicians we just do not need to pat ourselves on the back to prove to ourselves.

Global warming is a hypothesis. It is still unproven.
There are many scientists who dispute the effect itself and/or the role humans play.

For some reason, the popular media has been pushing this issue for years. It may be politics. It may be what sells.

You will see the media try to bully people into believing it - quotes like "every reputable scientist believes" (I heard this on NOVA). They will also try to attribute things like an active hurricane season (last year) to global warming, despite indications from NOAA that this is not the case.

If you really researched Mr. George W. Bush, you would find that he, as well as his family and cronies, is heavily invested in oil and energy which is why ignoring global warming actually brings him a profit. By all means, buy a Hummer, use more oil, use nukes, drill more, pollute more...he has investments in all those areas. Before the Enron scandal, he almost gave Ken Lay a job in the White House. He's not stupid, just self-centered and greedy. Peace Out!

It's a game between Republicans and Democrats to be oppositional to one another, so they've taken opposing views on environmental issues. It gives them something to fight about. It's a proven fact that global warming is real, but they politicize it by focusing on the human contribution factor. One side says global warming is caused by humans and the other says it isn't. Neither focuses on the fact that global warming is both part of a natural cycle and is accelerated by human activity. And why do they deny the human activity part? Because Republican politicians are rich people who focus on big business, industry, making money, capitalism. And their brand of capitalism pollutes the environment. Government/military and big business cause most pollution and have most of the power to avoid taking responsibility for cancer, endometriosis, reduced fertility, heat strokes, you name it. The list is too long.
Bush is an educated man and knows global warming is real. He just doesn't want to give up oil and money and popularity with people who don't care about pollution. And he doesn't want to accept the fact that alot of people will have to relocate, change their lifestyles, etc outside of the pollution factor.

First, I would say ask Bush, but I will attempt an answer. I do not want to seem precocious, but I believe you are probably linking the Bush administration's rejection of the Kyoto treaty as his personal definition of his beliefs. If that is the case, then you are totally off base. The Kyoto treaty attempted to make American Industry pollution fighting attempts SO EXPENSIVE for American industry that the cost of cleaning America's polluters would render American industrial output too expensive to be competitive on the world's markets and thus disastrous for our economy. Meanwhile, there was no such pollution scrubbing technology limits placed on developing countries indusrial bases to clean THEIR polluters! America's preference would be for the developing countries to adopt and utilize advanced pollution fighting technology NOW. But they (the developing countries would have nothing to do with America's desires for FAIRNESS in the Kyoto plan!) Think of it. This is primarily an Asian designed plan to deal FAIRLY(NOT!) with the pollution problem -balanced - they say with industrial output for developing countries! It is not fair to Americans and so was rejected. Thank god Clinton was not president. Bush went against politically correct and saw the Kyoto for what it was. The Kyoto plan was not good for America.
America is the world's largest polluter, yes, but we ALSO are the planets greatest advanced pollution fighting technology user of ALREADY implemented pollution fighting technology. We have a far way to go yeas, but we are aware. The coal burning industry purchases "credits" right now but that too is changing. Remember, Americans also want to change/advance our own pollution fighting technology in every industry, but it is always measured FIRST against profits, and continued employment for the families that work in any industry of a geographical region well-being of this great country. I know this does not satisfactorily answer your question, but that is the way it is. Do we take away jobs from Americans? The quick answer is no. The presidents job is to protect AMERICAN interests over the interests of other countries (whose prime interest is to weaken us to their financial gain). Why not focus your pollution fighting against other countries as well? Why not FIGURE out a way that we could be clean while being competitive? Has complaining about Bush gotten you closer to a satisfactory answer or has it gotten you closer to what you really want to do, and that is be a Bush-basher? Just curious...

Well, there is a lot of evidence to the contrary. Most climatologists (who study the climate over long spans of time) arent even sure whether warming is occoring. And observed temperatures are actually dropping. Bottom line: nobody knows what is going on, and to just assume that Global Warming threatens us is a foolhardy mistake to make, especially because it could result in massive damage to our economy. Probably because it is a known fact that the earth's climate has fluctuated dramatically throughout the history of the planet... There is no stability promise from earth, she does what she wants when she wants. The global warming is just a ploy to keep people from polluting the planet. Which is great, no one wants to breathe polluted air. Whatever works, works right?

43 believes in warming, just not alarmed by it.

Where do you get this "smart" thing

The Constitution requires that a candidate for the presidency must be a "natural-born" citizen of the United States, at least 35 years of age, and a resident of the United States for at least 14 years.

Smart is not a requirement.

He doesn't believe in global warming because it doesn't suit him to. Not only would that go against his own twisted worldview, but coming up and enforcing natural environmental standards would be extremely expensive and time-consuming and would take precious time away from the war in Iraq.
