I want to plant something to hide a 3.5 foot cinderblock wall it measures 70 feet long and 3.5 feet high, its used as a retaining wall in my back yard, but is old and ugly and would cost thousands to replace it. I was thinking about planting geraniums on the wall (there is dirt) so that they hang down but the wall is slightly tilted and I dont want 70 feet of geranium pressure pulling it down. What can I plant very close to the wall that will grow up and cover this wall? Is there a type of vine that is not too aggressive and will pop up everywhere? Any suggestions.

I have portulaca plants inground as well as in pots. Should I just deadhead them after they bloom or actually pinch some of the plant? If so, how much do I pinch? How much water do they like? I have them in full sun in hot/humid south Jersey.
Thank you in advance!

The tomatoes are growing big and green and looking good. However, I have noticed little white-winged bugs all over the plant. Although the tomatoes look unharmed, the leaves look like swiss cheese!! What is this and will it harm the tomatoes? Help!

I am now living in the home where I grew up. When I was a little kid, I remember these lilacs as smelling so good and being the neatest thing, but mom also planted maple trees in the yard and now the maple trees are shading the lilac bushes and the bushes never bloom, and many of the branches are leafless and dead. I trimmed them up, but I think its a wast of time since they are in the shade now because the maple trees have grown big and tall covering over the top. Should I just whack them down? They look really crappy now. Is it a lost cause since they are not getting sunshine? I am just having a hard time doing away with the things my mom planted since she has died.

I added some rich soil and miracle growth. Should that do it or should I replant? I got the plant from the grocerie store and the soil feels real spongy or light. I usually water it every other to every day since it has been hot in Missouri.

My Jack is a Female, next month she will be a year. She is completely disobedient around others and dogs.

If not suprervised out in the yard, she is all about distruction to grass, sprinklers, plants, palms you name it.

I believe she is fresh out of luck for any other new owners except for me.

She requires 24/7 patience, playing, walking and survailance.

What can i do, i cant afford training, who can help me and my Jack/

I planted Beefsteak and two other varieties as in previous years. The last two years they are much smaller than other people's the last two years, and smaller than what I had the previous years.

They look reasonably healthy, but not big or bushy. Each has developed a small tomatoe, which I have plucked to encourage vine growth rather than fruition.

Any suggestions?

I have about 200 glads planted in 2 beds about 50 feet apart. The corms come from many different sources. One bed gets plenty of water and the other needs to depend on mother nature. (not particullary generous this year) They are in full sun. The leaves stopped growing at about a foot and started to have streaks of brown before totally turning brown and dying. When I pulled some up, I noticed that the corms have not grown and one was rotted or eaten. I have no problem with underground critters and I can see no insects. The plants have about 6 sq inches each. I have many other crops near and so far only the potatoes might be having problems. What am I dealing with here and what can I do? I have huge gardens. Some of the soil was brought in from compost piles from the county and some from my own animals. Help?

It looks like an elderberry only the berries are ripe in June/July and the birds love them. And the berries are bright red, not blue/black like the elderberries. Both trees grow side by side. Are the berries edible? and I would like to see a picture for identification. Thanks, Kat

I purchased some hanging flower baskets with no name of the flower on them. They are daisy shaped pink and purple with yellow centres about half the size of daisies. The stems are about two feet long and hang over the side of the basket. Anyone have a clue what they are and how to look after them?

Is it possible for a sand filter to loose it's sand into the pool?

We had replenished some of the sand this year, first time in 4yrs and it seems that it is realeasing back into the pool.

When I go to backwash and rinse, the little see through jar that is located on the filter has sand particulars in there.
We had a pool guy come out and fill the filter with sand, and he said that we really didn't loose much throughout the years.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how to resolve it.

I am shocked and yet very surprized at myself.
I have had this same 'Philodendron' house plant here just 5 feet from me for 19 long years now.
A Church friend gave me this Philodendron plant back in September of 1988 for a house-warming party for me.

It is the most hardest Plant to accidently 'Kill' lol.
I am considered a Green-Thumb person but,,,,,, several times in the 19 years, I'v gone 10-12 days before I'd Remember to Water my Philodendron house plant again : )
Once in July of 1997, I really almost Killed my (( never say die, house plant )) Failed to Water it for almost 4 weeks.
I just Soaked my entire Philodendron plant in MIRACLE-GRO in the sink 10 inches high for
7 hours and Quickly came back to full health Green.
I truely love my 'Plant' as though it's my baby LOL. It's been through and Seen Alot in those 19 years with me.

*Once again, Is it normal for Philodendron house plants to Live for 19 years or longer ??
