It doesn't matter which you decide to use they both require clorine, and they both require about the same up-keep. However, I provide the following link to help you decide. Cost?

The cost to run is about the same, or maybe a little less. There are several nice things about a saltwater pool. One, is the salt is a natural algae deterrent. Two...you don't happen to bleach your hair do you? Or color it? Trust me, if a blonde, a chlorine pool will fry your locks and make your hair an odd color requiring frequent de-chlorination treatments from your hairdresser. Salt is less offensive, and actually better, for your skin, particularly if you like to tan.

you really wont save any money, but the convience is great... for my 20,000 gal pool the cost was 1200.00 , you have to clean the converters once a month and if they go out its 600.00 to replace (about 6-12 months life expectency, I believe) And no the amount of salt is so small (parts per million) you will never notice it, nor will it damage anything metal...

If you have a 64,000 gallon fresh water pool. Leave it that way. If your thinking of salt water---you have absolutely zero common sense. Call Shamu and ask about the problems..
