I live in a small apartment, but love roses and would love to grow some indoors.

With a miniature you can, but it requires lots and lots of light. If you have a sunny window it should do fine. If you so not then you will have to set up a grow light which you can get at just about any home and garden store. If you have a balcony or a ledge it would benefit the rose to be outside during it's normal growing season and then bring it in for winter. Light is going to be you main problem here because roses, even minis require at least 6 hours of sun a day to do well.

They are really outdoor plants that love full sun. It used to be impossible. People tried with the old fluorescent lights, with the plants inches from the light with mediocre results.

Nowadays, they have VHO (Very High Output) and CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lamps - the ones that look like spirals) and they might give enough light. It would be a bit of a set up. If you want to just sticking it a sunny window, then an African Violet would probably be a better choice.

If you try it out, please let me know how it goes.

Also, some of the minis are fragrant!

I grow beautiful miniature roses, but they have to be in partial sun, not direct, and not overly watered or the leaves will turn yellow. They need TLC, but if you fuss over them a bit, they will love you!

The miniature ones?
One of mine was dying until I brought it up to the balcony, it's not flowering as much as the healthy one I brought it up with, but it did broaden and is doing much better. Maybe a really sunny window will do as well?

Yes you can. Not as successful as outdoors though !!
If you can get them some Sun during the day that would be beneficial.
Do you have a balcony or some other way to set them outside ?
