Skin Conditions - December 2006

I get really bad cold sores a couple times each year, but I especially want this one to clear up fast before a huge presentation in a couple days and midyear graduation! I have a prescription for Zovirax, which has never done much, I have a tube of Abreva, I have been putting ice on it, I have tea tree oil, but nothing is working. I just started getting it today (I felt the tingle this morning) and started using ice and everything, but a few blisters are already forming and my lip is huge. What else can I do? Anything you can suggest would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have really dry skin on my legs. Lotions do not seem to work because they just come back the next day and the days after that. They are dry cracks all over my legs. What kind of scrub AND any good working lotions would you suggest?

Hi! Does anybody know anything about laser resurfacing for pitting acne scars? Has anybody had the surgery? How long does it take to heal? How much does it cost? Was it effective? Was it worth it? My acne scars really affect my relationships make me depressed. What are your thoughts?

My skin gets dry really easily- mostly on my hands and feet. My hands are pretty set though, if i put lotion on my hands maybe twice a day. But my feet get dry so much quicker. When I put lotion on my feet, then walk around for not even five minutes, the lotion wears away. They're fine when I'm wearing shoes and socks, but i don't like to wear them all day. Is there any lotions or anything that won't wear off so quickly? I'm using melaluca lotion right now.(I'm not sure if i spelled that right) It's the best I've used so far.

I've looked online but can find no information on this. The skin on my palms and feet thicken and then peel off. Sometimes in 1/4in thick pieces of dead skin. This in itself is disgusting, I know but on the feet, it's worse because the skin hardens to an almost hard plastic consistency and will not come off, leaving thick pads of dead skin that frays around the edges and gets hung on carpet and such. I've tried exfolients and stuff, but apparently this is made for minor cleansing jobs. I've tried soakin in epsom salts etc. but nothing works. So my question is, does anyone else have this problem, or any ideas on how to treat this condition?

I have tried nearly everything: Proactiv, antibiotics, shots to the face, over the counter creams, and just about everything. My acne goes away and then comes back. Not only that but it leaves scars behind as well as brown dots where the zits were. Can anyone suggest anything for acne, the scars, and the brown marks?

Our family doctor prescribed hydrocortisone for my daughter (she's 3 going on 4 in January) to treat her eczema. She gets it quite badly about 2x per year - on her arms, legs and sometimes on her stomach. The pharmacist just cautioned me about not using the hydrocortisone too much on her - why would that be? Is it a steroid?

I have eczema on my eyelids, and it is actually a type of eczema called atropis dermatitis. I am 14 years old, and I have had it for so many years. I tried Elidel, anti-aging creams, and right now I am using TriCeram. But I have used it for a week, and what happened was, there was no more infected cuts or holes, but the itching became persistent and the redness spread. What can I use?

I've got this red bump on my wrist... I think it may be a mole... But I'm not quite sure, It devleoped a few months ago... at first it was kind of sore... and then it turned Purpleish Black... and I scratched it off... and it came back... and now it's just a large mole looking thing... although it keeps getting caught on things! A few days ago, I got it caught on something, and it tore partly off... It hurts really bad right now... Is it a mole?
