Salt water is excellent for the skin, it can clear acne and promote the healing of minor skin abrasions and cuts. That's why people buy sea salts or other mineral salts for the home bath. Make sure you rinse off well after swimming to remove the excess salt from your skin and (especially) hair.

I use to live on an island and I was always in the ocean and I never had a problem with it drying out my skin or any thing. The only thing was getting in the ocean after you shave... OUCH!! Some people actually say that the ocean water is good for you to swim in.

well it could be if your in the sun alot. the main thing is wearing lots of sunscreen. i wouldn't worry to much about that just rinse off when your done playing in the ocean. then just treat your skin with lotions when you get home. i would worry more about the suns effects on the skin for sure.

I don't think it's really bad for the skin, but it does dry it out. If it bothers you, just use a moisturizer for your face.
