My daughter is 10, in the last week has developed a large (about 3 inch in diameter and getting bigger) lump in her right breast directly under her areola. She has not begun her menses as of yet and does not exhibit any other common symptoms of beginning puberty (no hair growth that is). I know that possibly it could be a cyst of some kind....the other breast is flat and normal, the affected breast's areola is swollen and tender as well. There is a long history of breast cancer in my family, my mother and my sister, both her maternal grandmother and aunt. I have scheduled a doc appt for tommarrow morning, but am thinking about possibly waiting another week or so to take her to the docs, just in case this goes away as suddenly as it appeared...pretty much I don't think that this is something that needs immediate attention as my daughter says it only really hurts when you poke at it. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
