My dad himself, has esophageal cancer. On my mom's side I was told that I might get diabetes, since my uncles and grandma has diabetes. I currently have a type of guttate psoriasis that won;t seem to go away. I have two other siblings and we were all born with mild asthma. Can there be a big risk for us to inherit any cancer or diabetes genes in blood frm our parents?

I am trying to buy Herceptin for a friend outside of US; does anyone know the cost of using it? Such as how many dose per therapy and the cost of each shot?

Thanks!

A friend of mine has breast cancer and the local doctor prescribed Herceptin for her. However she is in China and she can't find this medicine on the market there. Since she can't really travel to the US to get prescription, I wonder how and where can I get the medicine for her? Is there a way we can get a doctor to give prescription by talking to her over the phone? Or is there a place that I can get this medicine without prescription?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

What are the signs, and what if there a little bump on it.

This question isn't as morbid as it sounds. My mum really wants to understand what her death will be like - and because no-one really talks about these things, I think she (and the family) may be imagining something much worse than the reality. If anyone could share their experiences, I would be truly grateful. Please don't worry about upsetting me, I'd rather be prepared.

And any 'side-effects' from the treatment?

I am surprised that Elizabeth Edwards is now facing death from her cancer. I may be naive' about breast cancer but I have always thought that if you get a mammo every year that you can catch a cancer in enough time to be completely cured of it. Does it grow so fast that maybe even annual ck-ups are not enough? Of course, it could be that she just didn't go annually for other reasons besides money. Either way I am amazed at how many women are dying from something that is so easily detected if we have routine exams.

Following a bout of pain and vomiting six months ago an ultrasound scan found a 1.8cm polyp and fatty liver. I have some low grade left sided pain and bouts of slight nausia. I have been on a low fat diet for six months and have lost 2stone but am still overweight. I do fee extremely tired a lot of the time and sometimes get extreme indigestion. I have suffered for some time from acid reflux causing difficulty swallowing. One consultant tells me that 1.8cm is very small and wanted to discharge me the other wants to remove the gallbladder as he says that 1.8cm is very large. I have been given no dietry advise both consultants inform me that this polyps is definately not a stone. Any advise should I have surgury what kind of things can I do to help myself. It worries me that this scan was done six months ago and the polyp may now be bigger and possibley cancerous.

My sister, who is 26, recently was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She has a 2 inch mass in her chest, nodules in her armpits and in her neck as well. I am very scared. She has a 7 year old son, and a 2 year old daughter. Can someone please tell me how extensive this sounds? Does this sound as if it is in an advanced stage? She will not get any definite answers until she visits an Oncologist next week. I just know that she has it in several areas and I am very worried. Please respond if you have an experince with this horrible disease. Thanks!!

- It was diagnosed in a 16 or 17-year old girl.

- She went on chemotherapy and all her hair fell out.

- The doctors said it was nothing to worry about, but she later found out there was a good chance she'd die if the chemotherapy failed.

- She recovered after about one year.
