I was recently hospitalized and newly diagnosed with hypertension, but in the next month I have to follow up with other doctors because my thyroid level is low. cortisol level is high, and sed rate is high. I do have arthritis. I am a 39 year old female, do not smoke or drink, but do have a strong family history for heart disease and all that. How can all these factors ( sed rate and cortisol level) affect me?

It was diagnosed during investigations to find out the reason for acute breathlessness. I had no other symptoms. My GP had an Echocardiagram performed and, as a result of that has put me on ACE inhibitors. However since taking them im experiencing more chest pains and chest discomfort than i was before, so could they not be the right course of treatment. Im seeing a cardiologist in 2 weeks but im worried i might have a heart attack before then. Am i worrying unnecessarily?

I've been sick for almost 5 days. I've had a really hard cough, sore throat, runny nose and shortness of breath. I went to see my doctor 2 days ago and he said "it's a virus". So i bought this over the counter decongestant that he suggested called ENTEX LA, which has worked for me in the past, as i have asthma and i can't take cough syrup or my throat will close up. Well it's been another two days and i feel like it's getting worse. My doc told me to use my puffers if i was feeling like i couldn't breathe and it gives some temporary relief, but it doesn't last for long. I've been up all night, it's now almost 8am and i've used my ventelin puffer three times since 1am and my steroid puffer once. I still feel short of breath and my ribs are aching from all the coughing, but i don't want to wait 5 and a half hrs at the hospital so some nurse can stick a ventelin mask on my face and i have to call in the doctor to turn it off, because no one will come to check on me. I hate hospitals!
