What is the probability of getting a "blackjack" hand (21) from drawing the first two cards from a fair deck?

*Assume no jokers (52 cards per deck).
*Assume randomly shuffled.

I usually throw in my own assumption of how to go about figuring the question out, and often put my own guess as to the answer, then ask you to check it...but I'm really not sure how to approach this, as the probabilities seem to "overlap" or however it's worded...

Please don't just give the answer. I want to see the rationale behind it.

i want to know why the books tell you to hit your 16 against a dealers 17 or more. (when the up card is 7 or more) When the dealer gets a 16 we cant wait for them to hit because we want them to bust... why would we take the chance on busting, when if we play it safe, wouldn't we at least have the chance to stay in the game.?? this never made sense to me if a dealer has a good chance at busting, we would too right???

The Vacuum and balls are gone. I hear that they just pick 3.4 or5 numbers at random. I even heard they threw a dart at a board. Is this fair. Is there security at the drawing ? Apparently not.

I have received such notifications from the Yahoo National Lottery, and the British National Lottery. The e-mail usually states I am winner because e-mail was entered in a sweepstakes contest. Are these Legitimate contest or do they just want my personal information?

I've never been to Atlantic City, but I recently read that casinos were not legally permitted to ban players based on skill, i.e., they could not kick out card counters. Is this true or was the guy misinformed? It seems to me that if it were true, the city would have to shut down blackjack unless they changed the rules to nullify the effects of counting. Is that what's happening, and if so, what measures do they take?

Hi, I am doing a project for my Gaming Management module and it involves developing a casino. However, I have never been to a casino because I am under the age limit. I don't really trust secondary sources because they might be outdated and may not really portray the interests of the majority.

The games can be table games or machines.

I have a job as a waiter but working there requires to much of my time. Playing poker for a living is something i'd like to do. I went to the casino last nite with a 100 and left with 600, I have alot of confidence in my poker skills and feel I could actually do this. What are your thoughts?
