for example: you have 5h 7c in your pocket hand, then Ks, 6s, 8d, 2c on the flop. Either a "9" or a "4" is required to complete the straight. There are 4 "9's" in the deck and there are 4 "4's" in the deck, add them together, which makes 8, you require one of them 8 cards to make your straight so therefore there is "8 Outs".

The equation:
8 (outs) * 2 + 1 = 17
So there is 17% chance of making a straight.

I understand that the "+1" comes from the river required, but where does that *2 come from? What are you multiplying? Please explain.

Hi,

I am a British Citizen resident and working in Europe.

Am I able to win the UK National Lottery?

What happens if I buy a ticket and actually win?

Should I give the ticket to a family member and ask him./her to claim it?

What are the rules on that then?

thanks

Hi, I am soon to be taking a blackjack dealing course and moving into the profession, but have been trying to learn as much as possible before I sign up. How do dealers at casinos sort their dealer's tray? Is there some specified order. I see there are usually 12 row trays, but for a standard $25 or $100 table, how many stacks of which denomination checks are usually kept and is there any order or sorting or method to the arrangement?

Thanks.

I want to know - if you have 100 chips:
How many should be white?
How many should be red?
How many should be blue?

I guess I didn't ask this very well before. I'm not trying to figure out the value (ie white = $1)

I *think* the game they came with is called "Sic-bo" or "Hi-lo" it involves 3 dice in a tumbler and we don't know much about it.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!!

Okay - now I'm sure there probably some "kink" in this strategy and I'm sure somebody thought of this by now but here goes anyway. The normal minimum at an Atlantic City roulette wheel is $ 15. What prevents you from doing this if you had a nice fat bankroll? You take 15 bucks and put it on red. If red wins, great. If not, you bet $45 on red. This way, if you win, you just covered your $15 loss and made $ 15 profit. If red loses, than you bet $ 90. If red loses, bet 180. If you win, you just covered the past losses and made profit. I can't see a flaw in this and have tried it with good results on Hoyle Casino for about 1/2 hour.

Can someone see a flaw in this? I know that you got to have a pretty large bankroll to play with just in case you have to keep covering losses but the law of averages says that you have almost a 50/50 chance of winning (curses to 0 and 00 !! )

Thanks for any input!

I have earned 5 tickets for a series of drawings at work. I know that my chance of winning is small and I would like to use my tickets in the most effective way. Each drawing will have 1 big winner and 4 smaller runner-up prizes, and I would be very happy to win any of them. Here are my questions: 1.) If other people put 95 tickets into a drawing, and I add my 5 tickets, is it correct that that is a 5% chance of winning that draw? 2.) If other people put 99 tickets into each of 5 drawings and I put 1 ticket into each, what is the combined chance of winning one of those draws? How do I figure this out mathematically? Thanks!

With a $15 to $25 minimum bet, what would be the best table games to play in Atlantic City. Craps has a low house edge if you bet on the pass or don't pass line. Blackjack requires luck and counting cards. Roulette has a big house edge. Pai Gow Poker is a slow death.

Hi, I am trying to learn to deal blackjack, recreationally at home at first. I am trying to remember some of the methods that I've seen at the casinos... what is the sequence for the following situation?

1) Dealer busts: do you:
A) Pay off everyone, THEN pick up cards from 1st base to 3rd, THEN pick up your own (dealer's) cards?

Also, is there any rule or method to when you might payoff a $100 (4x$25 green chips) bet with a black chip vs. 4 greens? Also, for a $75 bet, the pay off is $75, but I've seen dealers give you a $100, then take back a green $25. Any method to this either or easy way to figure when this would make sense?
Thanks.
