They can't prosecute people for being members of a group. In fact, the federal goverment can't even prosecute you for playing online poker! There are a FEW states that have explicitly outlawed it, but the law that passed in the fall DOES NOT MAKE PLAYING POKER ONLINE ILLEGAL!

Can't stress that enough. Everybody should join the PPA. And hey, while you're at it, Full Tilt is giving a crazy-huge match bonus when you donate to the PPA. So donate AND play. Let's show the US government the Power of the Poker-Player! Hell hath no fury like a poker player scorned.

The Bush administration is all about greed, money, and not giving a crap about people's rights. They also have this warped concept about trying to impose 'moral values' on people. Since gambling is 'bad' they want to be seen to be taking action against it to appeal to their fundamentalist radical right wing base.

They don't think that anyone will notice that the anti-gambling bill they passed was slipped into an unrelated anti-terror bill without public discussion or debate. They hope that no one will care that some forms of gambling were legalized in the same anti-gambling bill including horse race betting.

It's all political BS, and thousands of people have been hurt by this short sighted crap. But let's face it, this is not the only stupid decision that the Bush administration has been responsible for.

Let us hope that a future administration will be more sensible and give back American freedoms, including this one.

But as inept and unfair as the Bush administration is, I find it hard to believe that they are going to storm into the offices of the Poker Players Alliance and start arresting members (at this time being part of a pro-poker support group is not illegal). Join up and show your support for poker. In American politics money talks. The stronger we can make the PPA, the louder our voice. Sooner or later with enough support maybe we can win back our rights.

I don't want the U.S. gov. to regulate poker. The way they mess everything up. It's all about the money for them. And by joining the poker alliance you wont get prosecuted. I beleave you should join them.

Actually, I think that its more the Land-Based Casinos pushing buttons with congress to outlaw online based gambling so that they can make the money, rather than letting it go to other companies.

Prosecute millions of people? Are you nuts? The best thing the gov't can do is let it happen.
