Hi, I am soon to be taking a blackjack dealing course and moving into the profession, but have been trying to learn as much as possible before I sign up. How do dealers at casinos sort their dealer's tray? Is there some specified order. I see there are usually 12 row trays, but for a standard $25 or $100 table, how many stacks of which denomination checks are usually kept and is there any order or sorting or method to the arrangement?

Thanks.

I agree with everything justbeingher said. I will add the highest demonimation chips are usually in the center of your rack, making it harder for first or third base player to reach in and grab one if you commit the unforgivable sin of looking away from your table.

Some casinos are also very picky about having a spacer between every stack of 20 chips in a tray, others don't seem to care.

The amount of variation between casinos is sometimes incredible. Although it was many years ago, I remember the Calneva casino in Reno had to call the floor person over every time they gave the play a black ($100) chip, while around the same time at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas dealers had $5,000 chips in their trays and did not even inform the floor person when they gave one out.

Amounts depend on the casino. Smaller denominations to your right as you will use them a lot. The tray is always done the same and a casino will show you how they want it done so they know what they are watching on camera.
