I got a flyer in the mail that included a scratch off ticket for a car lot. The scratch off says that I win the jackpot but doesnt say what the jackpot is. In the fine print on the bottom it says that the Jackpot winner odds are 49,998:50,000. This particular car lot is an hour and a half away and I dont want to go all the way up there if theres a big chance I wont win anything. What are the chances of winning with these odds?

So i've accepted the fact that slot machines are completely random, but of course with very small odds that you ever hit the jackpot. Just wanted to see what other people's strategy was for slot machines that have allowed them to lose (assuming the house always wins) the slowest? Do you stay at a machine three tries at max bet, and if you don't go up move on to the next machine? five tries...stalk people who have given up on other machines?

I'm going to Vegas this weekend and plan on playing a little blackjack, as it's one of the easier games for gambling newbies to pick up. I picked up one of those strategy cards so I'm getting the basics down on when to hit/stand/double/split. I don't plan on winning anything (of course the house always wins), just want to gamble a little and have fun and if I win...cool!. Couple questions so I don't look like a total idiot at the casino. For multi-deck black jack:
1) How do I signal that I want to split my cards? do I just put add a match bet next to my current bet within the circle?
2) How do I signal that I want to double down? do I just add a stack next to my current stack (up to my current bet) within the circle?
3) The Blackjack side bet (I think usually pays 7-1 if you get blackjack first hand)...what are your thoughts..worth it? or just a good way for the casino to slowly get a little more money out of you?
4) random Vegas culture I should know?

I was wondering if they do, because I was watching my husband play for about 2 hours on a single slot, and whenever he could be seen really frustated he would win just a little bit. Then he started loosing and it would happen again. I found this interesting so I started counting seconds of how much time this took before he would win a little again...I started noticing there was a pattern of 250 -300 seonds before he would win a little again. I have read so much about computer face reading that his senario has really made me wonder if casinos have invested in this technology. I found it really strange that it always seemed to happen with in 250-300 seconds of a frustrated facial expression? I can see how this could become a casinos advantage to contantly keep you paying more.
