I know quilters use a foot with a 1/4" guide, so I was hoping there'd be SOMETHING out there that I can use for a 1/2" guide?!!?

I once worked at this summer camp at which we made kalidescopes. The material used was these small sheets of reflective plastic (maybe plastic? dunno for sure), but if you held the plastic close enough to your face, you could see through it. Another type I've seen isthe solid yellow, hard reflective plastic used for sunglasses, you know? Bottom like, I'm looking for something thats reflective to others but see-through to the user (I confess, its actually for the visor part of a Master Chief helmet). I'd prefer it to be reasonably priced, flexible, and cutable, but even if you have a name for the material I'm talking about, or ANY info on what I might be looking for or where I might look, that'd be great....

I was in my middle school chess club and the chess coach brought in a game and one of the problems I was stuck at was how to place the least amount of knights on a board so that all of the squares are either occupied or threatened. The hints were that it has rotational symmetry but not line symmetry and that it takes 12 knights. Could anyone please post their thoughts about this whether it is right or wrong to help me get an idea so I can try myself.

I came across a pattern for a pendant that says to set beads such as pearls, etc. into the clay and then bake. Color me stupid but if they're not real pearls they will melt, correct?

And do you prefer baking the clay in the toaster oven or the regular oven?

I recently got a miniature dollhouse---finished, I guess you would call it---and I've been bitten by the mini bug. I LOVE miniatures! Is there a Website or catalog from which I can buy inexpensive miniatures at 1/2 inch scale [meaning, 1/2 inch=1 foot]? Don't say eBay, please. I want a real company if I can find one. Please help me carry on miniature-ing, because a very close person in my life died last year, and she loved miniatures, and I guess you could say it's contagious. :)

You know how when you are putting letters in friendship bracelets, and you do the forward knot and even backwards knot, you have to make 2 ties on to make one knot?

Well I did that and my letters came out very wide like this:





And I want them to look like this:

So when I am making the backward/foward knots on the letters, do I just tie it once or what?

If not, how do I prevent my letters from looking like that?
