I think 'gimp' is like the stuff we used to call Rexlace. Plastic lace sounds like it, too. If so, yep, Michaels does usually carry that. You can even go to www.michaels.com for projects using it, but they don't let you shop online like some other crafts stores do.

It's cheaper to buy a new shoe lace at Walmart. But if you really want to keep the shoe lace, you can wrap white sewing thread around the end and cover it with clear nail polish.
