The open house is for three siblings and is cake, cookies, chips, and punch only. We want people to come and welcome the children and to congratulate the new parents, but they need to know they are not being feed. I want the wording to be correct so there are no misunderstandings.

I'm not entirely sure how many people are going to be at his party. I'd guess maybe: 15 but there are a few family members that are a little hit or miss... It could be as many as 20. So, how much cake will I need?

Another part of my question is more about preferrence... I personally prefer homemade cakes but a lot of people like store bought. (my husband). Being that it would save a lot of money to make the cake myself, I'm leaning more toward that. Let me know what you think about the great cake debate.

I have a cousin who is expecting a baby in January. Her husband and her don't want to know what their having; he already has a boy and boys run in our family. Well, her family hasn't thrown her anything yet, and they're both coming up for Thanksgiving. I have been "appointed" to throw her a baby shower, which I don't mind. I recently helped run an wedding shower! My question is what to buy- the paper accessories of tablecloth, napkins, plates, cups,utensils, invitations,etc. What about games and activities? I am looking for foods I can prepare in advance and just heat up on the day of. I'd like to be able to mingle with my guests instead of spending the whole time dealing with food. I'm planning to set up a buffet table so guests can help themselves and eat casually as they mingle with one another. I'm not a very talented cook, so the simpler, the better!
