My aunt is having a party in a decent sized hall (50 people or so) for her 10 year old son. She asked me to help her decorate the hall. I was thinking balloons and streamers, but what ELSE can I do? I want to make it look nice.

i want a great 21st party with the nice wallpaper behind as a backdrop for my guests to have their photo taken by the photographer. i want my party to be like a clubbing event and also cater to my aunts and uncle who just need a nice place to chill and have a beer. with a buffet line like a cocktail party, i need a space which can let me do all 3. my cousins are also coming, some at the age of 12 or so and i cant make things too 'over' as it will be a bad example. im thinkin of a place with a minimum of 2 rooms so i can hold my different guests and a hall large enough ofr 150ppl to mingle around with enough space as they drink and chat up. a bartender will also be necessary as im not intending to let the alcohols be like a buffet line. im living in singapore so getting a space which can fit my requirements is pretty hard. give me ideas please!! :-) check out my blog for the ideas that im heading at. www.xanga.com/dalethecurry

Would it be okay to serve chili that contains tequila and beer at a family gathering with children? Would parents get angry with me for that? should i change the recipe?

So I'm trying to get the PERFECT hookah, the type you smoke at upscale hookaah lounges, like $50 a bowl. I've got the perfect technique (20 perfect "O"s in 10 seconds flat), the best hookah tobacco ($25 a fist sized piece), and the near-perfect setup. I've tried about every setup and can't seem to get it perfect, only near-perfect.
Qs
1) How long should I let the tobacco acclimate to the environment? I let it acclimate anywhere from 4 hrs. to 1-2 days.
2) When you let it acclimate, do you leave it in the open, or do you pack it into the bowl? If you pack it into the bowl, do you cover it and turn it upside down? Do you punch holes in the foil?
3) What side of the foil should go down? Shine or Matte?
4) Does the quality of the hookah greatly affect the thickness and quality of the smoke?
5) Whats the best liquid to put in the bottom for the thickest and coolest and smoothest smoke? I've tried everything from gatorade, redbull, alcohol, milk(yucK) etc?
6) Best Hole Pattern?
Thanks a lot

1. (swt 16 party) set up tables+chairs in my front lawn, have salad bar and catering, and red carpet, everyone dresses up for a nice dinner in my front lawn. (dark, nighttime)+disco ball

OR

2. make my grand entrance, walk down my red carpet, go on stage, and tell everyone to get in the limo to a restaurant. this is fancier &better, but i was really liking the idea of front lawn.

Hi. My Dad's birthday is in August, and I need to know where to look to rent tables, and I would like to rent one of those buffets that keep the food warm so people can come by and serve themselves.

The theme is Greek God/Godesses. So far I have the clothing figured out. For some of my decorations I have tea light holders, green ivy, white mini lights and gold vases to hold flowers. Any other good ideas to decorate my party?

I love ice cream and want to have an ice cream cake at the reception instead of a traditional cake. Is this appropriate? Would guests enjoy? I'm considering using Coldstone Creamery...any feedback?

Should I have it at my house to save money, or is it best to have it at a restaurant or other location? Any ideas/Advice?

I'm having a dinner party soon with a greek theme.

I will offer some olives and maybe almonds as appetizer.
Then I'm serving a lemony spinach soup for starter (with some bread) and roasted lamb with potatoes for main course.

I'm also serving dessert: a rice and almond pudding with poached pears.

I'm inclined to think that that should be enough... but, I'm doubting. Do I need any more side dish for the main course? Do you think I should be offering some other vegetable or a salad to go with the lamb and potatoes? (If yes, what you recommend?)

What do you call the parties where someone comes and hosts and they hand around samples of things like massage oils and flavoured lube, edible lotions and vibrators....and at the end you can order stuff

I have only heard them called Fantasia Parties...but it seems like that is the name for ones in Canada...My friends and I want to hold one and I figure if I have names of what other people call them I may have more luck...I am in Maine right now...
