My friend and I decided to get a bottle of something which we could break out and toast on happy and momentous occasions (such as our weddings, birth of a child, etc). We don’t really consume alcohol, except for the occasional glass of wine during a family Christmas dinner or what not, so we are not sure about what we should get. I would really like a bottle of vintage port, but am not sure if once opened these can be corked up and left for years without going bad. I think a good whiskey (like a Glenfiddich or Miltonduff) won’t go bad even if it was opened and left for years, but I really have no clue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
