I don't think it's physically addictive, as in no "Cold Turkey" type symptoms if you stop using it, but I believe that a person can become psychologically addicted to it and can start to depend on it to achieve a certain emotional state.

For example, some people seem to think they can't chill out and unwind without using it and it becomes a relaxation prop that they can't do without. I know a bloke who used to smoke a joint for breakfast! To each their own, some people are addicted to marijuana, others to alcohol, some to sex ... I know which I'd prefer!

Yes. There are two ways you can be addicted to marijuana. Psychologically and physically.

Psychological addiction is were you form a dependence on something (not necessarily a drug). You use it as a way to cope with problems that you would normally solve another way.

Physical addiction is where you body actually adapts to the presence of the drug. The body creates antibodies to deal with some drugs and get them out of your system. As you increase your intake of the drug, your body increases the amount of the antibodies. This has two results. First over time you need more and more of the drug to create the same high. (This is the basic definition of addiction.) Second, if you quit taking the drug you suffer from withdrawal as your body readjusts to not having the substance any more.

No, it is not addicting.

I used to work at a Medical Marijuana Dispensary, so I had to do all the research and talk to all the doctors. The answer is no, but if you wanted a site to further your knowledge try www.canorml.org it's a good site and it talks about all sorts of things related to marijuana.

The above answer is wrong .... not all drugs are addictive.

Marijuana is not physically addictive in that the body does not crave it. Heroin is physically addictive.

Most other drugs are psychologically addictive ... marijuana can be, but only if you smoke it day in, day out. The occasional spliff will do you no harm at all and may do you some good if you suffer from chronic pain. Amphetamine and Cocaine tend to be rather more psychologically addictive because of the rush it gives you

There is some psychological dependence with cannabis (where there is a desire to keep taking the drug even in spite of possible harms) and this occurs in about 10% of users. There are no physical withdrawal symptoms from cannabis use.

If you've only been using for a short while there should be no problem stopping but with continued regular use of cannabis, this can become more difficult. You’re also at risk of getting addicted to nicotine if you roll your spliffs with tobacco.

I think Not
I was addicted to drugs and alcohol for over 20 years and I ended up using Marijuana to curb my speed addiction and It worked so well I used it again to help me quit drinking, and finally I used marijuana to stop smoking ciggaretts and then I easially put the pot down.
And I have been sober and smoke free now for 12 years

Can be good for you, if you take into consideration all of the exercise you get walking to the garage to buy Pringles. And if you were to become addicted then that's a lot of walking.

SSSSSSSSMOKE!!!
