Beer, Wine & Spirits - November 2006

I am hosting a Christmas party soon, I was wondering if anyone has any good WARM/HOT alcoholic and some non-alcoholic drink recipes. 10 points and a 5 star rating if someone can give me at least two alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks that sound good.

I have no clue what to order to drink when I'm at a bar without making a fool of myself! I don't want complicated drinks, just plain old alcohol that is cheap and will do the job ;) Is beer the way to go? Do guys appreciate a beer drinking girl? Which beer is the way to go? If you just want the cheapest possible (and I do) do you just ask for a pot? What other drinks are non-pretensious that I could ask for? Thanks guys, my lack of bar know how is depressing me and your help will be greatly appreciated. And can anyone recommend any good bars in melb where i can test my new found bar confidence? I lost my keys so i had to wake my wife up at 4. Got my head down about 5.30. was woke up by my kids at 7.30, I am now suffering on the coach with a hangover and will be for the rest of the day, untill i manage another beer. the question is..
am i in trouble with my wife, and is so, how do i get out of it?

I've heard of making a drink using fruit skins, water and sugar, leave in a bottle for about a month and then drink, but I can't imagine it tastes much good. Does anyone know of a good home made drink? Every other site I visited has recipies that require distillation and complicate things with talking about enzimes and the like.

I have never drank tequila before. i need to to it tonight. feeling depressed, my ex has our daughter for the weekend. I kNOW alcohol is a depressant so pls don't remind me. WHAT is the best way to drink it...straight? on the rocks? how much is too much? i used to drink wine a long time ago. haven't drank alcohol in forever.

last night several of my friends and i got together over my good friend's house. it was a dinner party and my other friend brought over a glass of red wine. This was one of my first ever glasses of wine and i must say, it was disgusting. coming from a very italian famly i would love to know how the hell everyone else in my family can enjoy this stuff so much. my father says it is an acquired taste but i do not believe i will ever like this stuff. your opinions?
