No, they shouldnt. Though do make it fair on them, there should be either a smoking section or a smoking room. By smoking in pubs, not only are you making other smell of smoke but you're intoxicating others against their will.

I live in Queensland, Australia and they bought in this new law this year that wherever food or drink is served you are not allowed to smoke. So this means that every bar, restaurant, cafe, etc is smoke free. What alot of pubs have done is built areas or designated garden areas for smoking where you can take your drink with you. Now I smoke and enjoy it when I am out and about but I hate smoking inside any confined space, so no smoking should not be allowed in bars.

Of course. The PC police need to get real. We're talking bars here folks, not restaurants or child day care centers. I don't buy the argument that people working in bars "will suffer" from the endless list of tragic malady's due to the evils of tobacco smoke.
People can still choose were they wish to work.
Remember.. we are talking about BARS.
Bar owners should be allowed THE CHOICE of weather they permit smoking or not in THEIR establishment without government interference.
The abuse of alcohol is far more serious than the person who is in a BAR having a cigar or cigarette with his or her cocktail.
The last time I checked, cigarettes were still LEGAL.
Far to many freedoms are being taken away from citizens each and every year. I thought this was still America....
where people can make choices.
If the BAR permits smoking, and you don't like It, fine!
Choose do due your drinking elsewhere.
Have a nice day.

I live in Omaha, Nebraska and a new law just started a few weeks ago for bars, it says, food or smoke, that means if they serve food nobody can smoke in that location. I think is great. Is ok if smokers want to smoke and destroys their own bodies, but, why should I and my family get sick because somebody else is smoking near us?
I don't want to offend anybody, but is just a fact that tobacco makes you sick, that's what it says on the cigarette pack. well, it says It may be a cause for cancer or something like that.

Are you from Vegas? I think it is a good idea not to smoke where children are going to be,such as restaurants. I think that smoking should be allowed in bars and anywhere gaming is ok.

I don't go to bars [even though it's banned here], but I don't think it should be allowed. My father was a smoker and I've always hated it. It's confined space with few/no open windows, non-smokers shouldn't have to endure it nor the health risks it poses.

Well, I think there should be designated smokers bars and people should be allowed to smoke in them but most public bars should not be smoky - too many people get sick from smoke

Of course, and the bar should have proper exhaust and ventilation. Who says anything about alcoholics and binge drinkers in public? They can certainly be hazardous to themselves and others. Is anyone segregating them?
