I use my forearm. Just press the bottle top into your arm and the skin covers the cap, then twist. It doesn't work on mexican brand beers!!!! Those lids are like glued or something.

Are you talking a "church key" aka bottle opener with a round top? Put the edge of the cap into the middle of the circle of the church key. The long, lever part will be down. Grasp the long lever part, and pull up -- the fulcrum is the top part of the circle (which is resting on the beer cap). The bottom part of the circle will pull up on the edge of the beer cap until it releases.

Man, that's hard to explain!

If you are talking about a real key, then you wedge the key under the edge of the beer cap, and try to lever it off. But you might wind up with a broken beer bottle or a bent key. It's better to use a cupboard handle.

And a lot of beer caps just twist off these days.

Good luck.

I use a drawer handle to open beer bottles. I'm usually too drunk and lazy to find the bottle opener. Never heard of using a key.
