I am a bartender at a sports club and when we finish off a bottle the last shot (which is less than a shot) is refered to as a "spider". A "spider" is always on the house. Where did this term come from and why? And I suppose I should also ask has anyone else ever heard of this?

When in Belize I bought coconut rum by Travellers. Most of which I gave as gifts. Oh, how we all loved this rum! I don't remember the proof exactly, but it was higher than the flavored rums that I find in the U.S. It seems that rums made in the Caribbean taste much better. I did go to their website, sent them an email, but their email was returned as undeliverable. Does anyone know how I can find this rum or something comparable?

I heard that drinking alcohol in moderation and only once in awhile can in cases be more beneficial than drinking no alcohol at all. True? What alcohol if any should be avoided? On the vice versa side I heard that it would be better off not to drink at all cause one drink alone can do you in. Is that only true of people with liver or kidney problems or is it true of everyone? I currently don't drink but there have been times when I REALLY really want to, and I want to be assured that what I'm doing is OK but it would be nice to know that having one drink is OK as well.

I drink a LOT of beer.
I mean A LOT.
And my friends always come over and drink it too.
How can I buy it from a distributer and save some serious cash in the process.
Beer is one of my biggest monthly expenses, and I'm not going to cut back on my drinking.
What do I tell the beer company to get them to sell it to me cheap?

Why is it when you are hung over hanging one leg off the bed (or whatever) makes you feel better and less likly to puke? (really helps when the world is spinning)Try it next time it does work as weird as it may sound. Is there any scientific explanation.

My parents have a problem - they have a liquor cabinet that they haven't touched since the early 90's!

I'm writing to ask whether unopened bottles of Schmirnoff and Johnnie Walker from the late 80's or thereabouts are still good, and vodkas and whiskeys which had been opened for one or two drinks - are they still good as well?

I'd hate for this alcohol to go to waste - the most my parents drink is my dad's 4-pack of Guinness a month. I'm a college student, of age, and, well, poor - so free alcohol is pretty appealing, however I just want to be certain of it's expiry.

Thanks!
-Tom
