Singles & Dating - 26 October 2006

My boyfriend of a year and four months broke up with me a while ago, very cruelly. He lied and said he couldn't handle the stress of a relationship, but later I found out it was because he'd found someone 'better'. I still wanted to try and be friends afterwards (we were great friends before we started dating), but he called me names, told me to '**** off', said he hated me, etc etc.
But I've found this great new guy named Sean. He's so nice. He's genuinely appreciative and caring, and treats me so well. We were friends starting about a week after my boyfriend broke up with me, and he's just a great person. He would never treat me the way my ex has been lately - he's appalled by it.
I like him, and he likes me, and we both know these facts. But, for some reason, I'm scared to date him. I think it's a subconscious fear left over from that breakup - maybe I'm scared to get hurt again or something.
How do I get rid of this feeling? I want to be ready for a relationship.

He'll know that I'm coming home and stuff since he's the one picking me up, but I want to surprise hiim with something he will love, I can't figure out what to surprise him with. This is the longest we have been apart, but we will only be together for just under 2 months, because he deploys in March for 6 months. Any Ideas?

..he has a lot going on in his life with his family his parents got a divorce yr ago bc the mom was seein someone, she has a ring on her finger already, he just got laid off..and the mom put him and his brother in a hotel so she can remodel the house ..and the guy remodeling their house is her bf..when i met him he was into the rock scene..his brother is in a band..so i got him out of it..and for four months he went on not drinking, doing drugs, or anything..recently when all this started happening with his family he started drinkin every night ..then it lead to going out all night to after hours clubbing..and when i talk to him about it..he says bear with me..and there is only so much i can take..i already have a brother that is a drug addict and i dont want to go thru this..but i love him so much and when he says that he doesnt want to do that stuff its just the situation and everything comin together..he cries and is depressed..but i dont know what to do..i feel so helpless

I'm in love with my best friend. He's in love with a girl who's in a long term relationship. She doesn't requite his love for her and he would never make a move because he respects the fact that she'd in a relationship. This doesn't stop her taking advantage of my best friend's affections and treating him terribly. He's desperately unhappy and confides in me. I've been seeing this man for awhile, a year. He was supposed to come come into town and hang out today. He didn't come. No phone call to say he wasn't. WTF?! He recently just texted me to say hi and how was my day. He didn't even acknowledge the fact that he's blowing me off. I mean no big deal if something came up and he can't come..right?! Okay, this is my friend's problem. She said she would go to formal with this guy, we'll call him Bob. And they think women are confusing! I've always kinda liked a co-worker of mine but wasn't able to express my feelings thinking 'what if he has a girlfriend' or 'what if he doesn't like me'. To my surprise (about a month ago) he expressed interest in me. After saying what he had to say..he also told me that he has a girlfriend. That was some disappointment. What confuses me is that even now he tells me things like...'I really like you' and 'this isn't just some harmless flirting' etc. He talks to me when he wants to and ignores me at other times. Seems like he wants to be with me but he doesn't want to leave his girlfriend either. He has talked about meeting me outside of work but that has never happened. He stood me up twice when I asked him to meet me. Just what exactly could be on his mind? I really like him too but I'm confused about what to do. Is he worth waiting for or am I just wasting my time on somebody who can't make up his mind?
