Singles & Dating - 5 August 2006

He is 18, still lives at home. He is doing great for an average 18 year old, he works as an HVAC installer fulltime! He has a $400 month truck payment that is hard to afford, and wants to trade it in for a cheaper payment. But for some reason his mom is not happy, and is sooo controlling of him. she is so negative and makes him feel like crap. like he is never good enough. She lies and backstabs him, he tells her things about work and his truck that he cant afford and she runs to his father and twists around his words making him seen horrible so that he gets in trouble. when he is trying his hardest. please, she is really getting on my last nerve. she doesnt like me, i know that, she is mean and makes jokes about me but then tries to act like she is playing around.but she is going to far this time. i want to say somethin to her but dont want a conflict for my boyfriend of 2yrs. what can the both of us do to solve this? i need all the advice i can get right now.thank you.plz dont b rude

My boyfriend had phone conv with my mother and she told him she doesn't have time for a boyfriend she has other things to be worrying about,she told that was not allow to talk to him anymore,and if I called him she told him to tell me he was not interested anymore. but now when try to IM him he won't say a thing. I expect I'll get a couple smart *** responses to this question, but I'd genuinely like to know what most people think regarding this particular thing.

It should be noted that I like sex. (Who doesn't?) Well, my boyfriend doesn't, that's who.
Let me re-phrase that. Alarm bells went off when we first were dating (we have now been together a little over a year) when he told me sex was over-rated. !!!!????
Over the course of our relationship, I have found sexual intimacy to be a problem - it is something I am missing with him.
When we do have sex, which is about once a week, it is usually just for his benefit and he very rarely tries to do anything for me.
I certainly have never encountered this with anyone before, so have nothing with which to compare it. I have had other long term relationships though, where this has never happened and I am a VERY sexual person. I have pointed it out to him numerous times and it gets better for a while, but it only lasts a few days, if that.

I met this lady on the net just recently. During our conversations, I sensed that there was something wrong and she was hiding it from me. As a christian, I believe in the truth. I kept on asking her to be honest and she sworn that all that she was telling me was nothing else but the truth. As an African, and coming from a good background, likewise being able to know if someone is telling the truth or just telling lies, I continued to know the truth from her. Though she said she is a christian, but I saw that all what she was telling me was lies. After putting presure on her, she came out telling me the truth that I wanted to know. Later, to my surprise, she told me that she is HIV POSITIVE and taking medication. To you all, should I continue talking to her? I have great interest in her, but looking at all lies that she've told me, I am wondering, if I should continue talking to her. Again, she continue to be not too much honest, she keep on lying and later apologising.

I am a professional, Ivy-league educated woman who considers myself to be a very liberal, open-minded person who believes in freedom of choice and equality. That having been said, I love black men and I've found that I'm naturally not attracted to men of other races (particularly white or asian men). For me , this is a very subconscious thing and I don't feel I have a racist bone in my body. Though a few white men over the years have tried to date me or expressed an attraction -- I had little to no attraction to them. There was no spark. It felt forced. I just have a preference for black men I love bronze to dark brown skin tones and tall, muscular frames and deep, baritone voices among other things. I think I also might like black men because they are more familiar to me and they share more of my interests/cultural connections. When my white girlfriends go "ga ga" over Brad Pitt I am drooling over Denzel. I wonder if anyone else can share what their dating preferences are and why?
