Singles & Dating - 5 August 2006

I wanted to know what do African American women look for in a man. Because in my relationship I do alot for my girlfriend that most men now a days dont do I cook for her, rub her feet, write her poetry, even though my finances are tight these days I make sure that she has my last dollar, I even eat her best tasting dish(if you know what I mean) anytime she wants me to. My whole life is her I want nor need anyone but her and without her I would have no heart, but I dont think she feels the same way she says she does, but she frequently tries to put me down, she frequently ignores my phone calls, and she tries to make it seem like what I do for her doesent mean anything since I cant give her everything that she wants financially. So I just wanted to know what do black women want in a black man because im desperately trying to please my girl, but the more drama she creates the less I think I can take. It hurts to luv someone but they dont luv you back. Thanks in advance for your comments.

There is this girl at my school who I know likes me. I like her too! We both text eachother all the time; during and after school. Her sister says she talks about me and really likes me.

I texted her asking her if she likes me, and she said yes. But when I asked her in person, she wouldn't answer.

Sometimes when I talk to her, she doesn't respond. Her sister says that she's very shy because she has never had a boyfriend before.

Is she just not interested, or is she just too shy? Sometimes she just acts so cold around me, it just makes me wonder.

I flirt with her alot, but she just smiles... When I hold her by her arm when asking her a question, she pulls it away.

All these lead me to think she doesn't like me. But she says she does, and her sister says the same.

Is there something wrong with me? Or is she just shy?

Girls of different races. I was a little curious the other day and went onto an online singles thing (just looking around) and saw that they had prefered races. I thought that was stupid and then i noticed that no one had my race down! Do guys have a thing for only certain races? what races (don't worry, I won't go all jackson and try to change my race. . . if a guy doesn't like what I am - then he's not good enough.)

I have met a man online and he lives across the country from me. He's buying a ticket to fly out and visit me for a weekend. Have any of you done this before? I am very big on safety. He will be meeting my parents somewhere before we go out and he will be staying at a hotel during his visit. Do things like this ever turn out well? What should we do while he is here? Should I take him out sightseeing? Any tips or advice? Thanks!

I was in a wedding last week and I wore my hair up. This girl in the wedding party really liked the way my hair came out. She also said she thought I look much better with it up then down. And she couldn't believe how good I looked with it up. Was she insulting me. Trying to say I usually don't look very good. She said with my hair up I looked sophisticated. I'm eighteen years old, and I've never drank alcohol, smoked, done drugs, had any type of sexual intercourse, or even kissed a guy. I've never even been on a date. It's not that I'm unattractive, I think...I'm just shy about approaching guys.

Is it weird to wish that women's lib hadn't come so far in the dating world, to where we're expected to initiate things now? And is it weird to think that a kiss should mean something more than just "I went out with you," maybe something like "I love you?" Basically, what it comes down to is this: am I weird for never having done any of this stuff at my age?

i've gotten close to this guy and didnt think he ever felt anything for me. we were cool and we would joke around. he was a great listener and we would tell eachother our problems. i was so happy cuz i thought i finally found a guy that only wants to be my friend. but i started feeling like he was jealous when i started liking someone. then i heard things from my friends that he did like me. ahh i just want to be friendss but i dont want this to mess up our friendship.he's a great guy and i would hate to see him get hurt. i wish he never liked me and everything would just go back to normal.

im white and was born in america and my boyfriend is hispanic.. born in colombia.. we have 2 complete backgrounds.. he grew up with drinking and smoking and it being okay.. i on the other hand dont like drinking or smoking.. my dads family was a good family until alcohol and drugs and stuff got mixed into it.. and i have a good reason not to like it.. i told him im not his momma or daddy so i cant tell him what to do.. and to make his own choices.. so he stopped(i guess) and all his friends drink and smoke.. and so he wont bring me around them.. also he was in a relationship for 4 1/2 yrs. and the longest relationship i ever had was 3 months!!(i know its sad but im young) and hes my first love(i know its love) & is that going to cause major problems too?!?! i love him and dont wanna fight or anything but it hurts my feelings when i feel hes comparing me to her!

ok ...... i have been with my boyfriend for 3 years, before he used to be very sweet but now everything have changed.
I've try to talk to him (we have good communication..) about my feelings, cuz i feel that he is not the same anymore, he doesnt say i love u or appreciated what i do for him. Im always there for him, trying to help him in every way possible, but i feel that its not good enough.
Most of the time we fight and he gets mad very easily.
Now, the excuse that he always gives me..is that he is busy and very stress and that he doest have time for "lovy dovy" stuff!!
Im not asking him to bring me the moon everyday, everything that i ask for is just a little appreciation and understanding that he is hurting my feelings.
I have never been in a long relationship, and i dont know what to do.
Could it be my fault?, am i asking too much???
