Friends - February 2007

I'm a 14 year old guy....but i'm homeschooled.


And I just moved across the country for the second time in ten months so i don't have any friends.


I now live in a neighborhood that is mainly made up of retired people.

I'm a freshman in highschool (remember that i'm homeschooled)

I'm kinda shy (I'm not one that will walk up to anyone on the street and say "hi"...although i try that every once in a while).

any suggestions on how to make friends, or any good conversation starters?

i have this friend that i have been with since the first grade and i dont want to get her upset. i told her that i like him but i told her i would never get together with him, like never ever ever. the problem is, is that that was a lie. if likes me i would want to get together with him. but i dont want to hurt my friends feelings and i dont want to ask if he likes me cuz he might not like me and my friend would get mad at me, what should i do??????

She is sooo saucy and rude to me and her father. I find it hard to punish her because she is a great student, lots of friends, etc. She also still throws temper tantrums at home where she will holler that she hates us. Is it hormones??

My name is Chardonnay if u don't know it is french and it is a wine.... to pronounce it is (Shar-doe-nay).Chardonnay is also the name of a French village located in the Saône-et-Loire Department in the Bourgogne. But i am African American and to people my name is just Ghetto and they say my mother must have been drunk when she gave me my name which really offends me! Should i get mad how should i handle it?

There's this guy that I really like. I have for a while now. We go to the movies in a group of friends all the time. Well yesterday I called him to ask him if he wanted to go to the movies, & he said he was already going to the movies with a friend from work. So, I went out to the movies with a bunch of other friends and had fun. Well today I called him, to see if he wanted to hang out, and after he said "hello", I was like "What's up?", and he said that he was at the movies. So I assumed that ment that he couldn't talk, & said "I'll talk to you later. Should I still call him in a hour or so to see if he wants to hang out tonight? We probably wouldn't do much, besides hang out at his house and play video games, or go out to dinner, but I would still like to hang out with him, so what should I do? I don't want to bother him, by calling him, if he is busy with other friends. We usually hang out every weekend anyways, so it wouldn't be unusual...help please. What do u think?

So i go to a really big school. When i first went there i knew NOBODY! and now i know a few kids but no one that I would hang out with and just have a blast. I met some kewl girls i hung out with for a month or so, then they had a whole bunch of problems and stopped talking to me and stuff, when they were the ones to first ask me if i wanted to hang out with them.

So I dont know how to meet new people or find anyone to connect with! the school is just so big. At lunch I usually go to the library and just work on my homework but it just gets boring after a while. Have any suggestions how to meet so good solid friends?
Its frustrating because Im a really nice person and everyone is just rude to me. I cant go to the library anymore for varius reasons so I just go out front like if i was getting picked up or something cuz i dont want to just go sit on a bench by myself.

Ok! So I HAD a friend that said something very stupid and disturbing to me. Stupid because my experience in this arena says NO. Disturbing, because I cant believe someone with a college education can be so "lacking".
Anyway this is the story: A previous friend of mine, she wanted to take an AIDS test because she did not receive one in a while. So she tells me she's scared to take it because potential employer's often check into people's medical history and find FREQUENT TESTING, a liability (she meant they wont hire you if the company, while screening you, notices frequent blood work, etc). She even provided a source (a guy friend she had told HER that he didnt get hired because he had frequent testing)
I only worked in HR for 2 years, but within that time, I have never heard of anything more ludacrous than this. I explained to her if that was the case (with her friend) that he could have sued the company for some kind of discrimination.
What do you think of this?

This girl and I are living in a city that is not our own and we do a lot of things together.(We don't know many locals) Tonight, after doing her "thing" all day, she suddenly felt strange and wanted to go home, even though she knew how much I wanted to do something.

Can we have deeper feelings (beyond normal friendship, but not always sexual feelings) for a close friend of the same sex and do those feelings make us immeditaly "gay" - or can we find a friend of the same sex attractive for who they are and just enjoy their company, even going as far saying we "love" them - is this perfectly normal?

I really like this guy. I mean he is so hot to me. But I can't tell him.
