Sometimes it is best to call people by their real name. My name is Angela, and I don't like being called anything else (for example, Angie). I prefer Angela to ANYTHING. Your friend may like her name with no other "decorations" or "abbreviations."
Since she likes nicknames, you can call her a nickname. It doesn't really have to have anything to do with Cassandra. It could do with something you have in common, or something she likes.
Or you could just ask her what she would like to be called.
