When I started a new job recently, I realized I was the only woman on the staff. No biggy, I thought. Turns out, I was wrong. It quickly became evident that the manager's assistant was displeased that I was hired. I had no idea why, at first. Everytime I passed him, all I got was a cold stare, not even a "hello" or a nod. It continued this way until one day, probably just a few days ago, he asked if he could talk to me alone. I agreed, and we sat down in his office. He started talking to me about his relationship problems, and then asked me for advice...So I did the best I could. At one point it looked like he was about to cry, so I patted him on the shoulder. Suddenly, he threatens to kill me. I was scared for a moment, but I didn't move and I calmly asked why. He said that patting him on the shoulder made him feel lesser, inferior, insignificant. The next day, instead of getting cold stares, I got cold smiles. And then the other employees started making fun of me. (Character limit..)
