Family & Relationships - 31 December 2006

Most U.S. women, especially with careers, say their either against or not looking forward to a life long committed, relationship/marriage. (when I say marriage, I'm not talking about a piece of meaningless paper. I'm talking about two people who want each other forever because they feel it.)

Many only want to date, or stick with one guy for a few weeks or months, possibly a year or two, then move on. So I was wondering, what is the plan when you date? What do you get out of it? Why date at all? Wouldn't it be better to just have friends to hang out with? (And I know some women do live without dating, but they still usually have one or two "relationship-like" encounters at some point which means they still date, just very rarely).

I ask cause when I was single my goal was to find the right person to have a meaningful relationship with. Nothing is more meaningful to me than a woman I can grow old with. I can't get to really know & bond with someone else in a quick relationship.

here it goes ..this is the worst new years ever!!! my husbands sister gave this girl my husbands and i's email and i checked it and she is trying to meet my husband and go out ...my husband dont know about the email and i dont know who it is ..his sister keeps giving out our email and phone numbers out and they started calling ..his sister tryed to break us up 3 yrs ago and now that we've been married for 2 yrs he never did nothing wrong im just so tierd of this ..could she be trying to break us up again?? im pregnant and im going nuts ..he's at work right now an im getting worried i feel like im going off the deep end

OK. Last year I told this girl I liked her using AIM, but because my screen name had "Spy bot" in it, her parents blocked me. I have not talked to her recently because we are in different classes. And recently my friend and I were in town and he suggested I buy her this duck we found at a record shop, and I gave it to her (she was with a friend at one of those Color Me Mine places, and later that same day she left a note at my house saying "Thanks for the Duck". I Just talked to her other friend who said she was bragging aboutit at school. I still like her and want to know if she feels the same. Should I take the chance and talk to her?

my best friend's boyfriend doesn't like me and i try to be nice to him as best as i can. i don't want to hurt my best friends feelings and i don't want them to break up. how do i tell him that i'm her best friend and you need to be nice to me because i will be her friend forever, but u won't be her boyfriend forever? he really makes me feel down on myself and he makes me feel VERY sad. i just want him to like me. please help me.

My husband and I were pregnant with our first child, and had just bought another home. I am not a dog lover, but I get home one day and there is a BIG *** german shepherd. That wasn't so bad letting this 125 pound puppy in our new home where he was allowed to s h i t on our floor and mess up everything in the house, not to mention the horrible smell he left. The dog was so huge it kept jumping on me and I was terrified and my husband would just laugh, well that was until I went into early labor from the dog jumping on my stomach. I thought that was the end of the dog but low and behold he was still in the dam house. So one day I took the dog and gave him away and told my husband he jumped the fence again. Was that horrible

i have 3 guys in my life. one i was best friends with as a child and we just went our seperate ways. a ouple of weeks agto we started talking again and we have hung out. i think he wants more but im not sure. my family loves him and i always have fun with him. the other is a boy in my class and we flirt everyday. and one point he asked me out but we both decided we should wait bc we wanted to get to know eachother better first. my family does not really like him, but i dont think they will veen give him a chance. i like him and i think i want to c what could happen between us. but then there is the last guy. he has been one of my closests friends for about 2 years. we hang out all the time and always have fun. i have always thought about us going further than just friends but i never wanted to try anything bc i didnt want to lose our friendship. i dont know wht guy to choose and i dont want to hurt anyones feelings. what should i do?

hi. first off, i'd like to apologize if me questions isn't as accurate to my problem (i just can't think of how to word it). Second off is my problem. I can't fall in love with a girl at first sight weather i want to or not. Also, if a girl likes me, there is a good chance that i don't like her back even if i want to have feelings for her. Yes. i've had romantic feelings for a few girls and no, not any boys but whenever i hear of love at first sight, i can't help but feel depressed. i just can't do it. We just started to go out. I thought she is more like 26 ... from the way she ACTED, she looks cute ;-) I had the mindset before not even wanting to talk to girls younger than 30. Anyways, she got me. I used to pick relationship with girls either my age or 2-3 years older than me.

I told her upfront that I won't date anybody seriously in the next couple of months. Just don't want to be with anybody right now; not even p***sy ... I don't want to get into anything. I still want to hang out with her; I am having such a great time being around her. SHE IS SOO CUTE. Funny. Very Smart. Great girl.

Anyways; I have this strong feeling that there is going to be more. But she is 11 years younger than me! Is there any way this could work? I don't talk about banging her; I am talking potential serious relationship business after I am through with my "abstinent period". She is what I'd respectfully call "marriage material", Opinions?

I live in canada and he is for the US military. It gets harder every day for me to keep going on without him here with me. he's gonna be gone for a year still and it hurts so bad. what can i do to keep up MY spirits? i've tried learning how to knit and that was alright, i also got accepted into an art school,but i turned it down cuz i can't do it w/o him. what on earth am i supposed to do? i cant get the support of other military wives and i know that would help. gah i need some encouragement

My daughter's birth "dad" hasn't seen her in over 3 years. He hasn't tried to seek any custody but I am afraid some day he might. He hasn't paid child support in 4 years. He has 2 DUI's, has been arrested for domestic abuse, and has been in and out of rehab for alcoholism (and yet he still drinks). He has no job, no car or licsence, no home (he bounces from friend to friend). It embarasses me to say I had a breif relationship with this loser, but it is something that I have to live with every day. I love my 9 year-old and my husband is in the process of adopting her. I am worried about the other person trying to screw with my family and I want to know if a judge would take his lifestyle into consideration. He has 3 other kids from 2 other women, and evades child-support from them as well.

My husband was caught having an affair with a woman in his division. I didn't find out until I moved to Virginia with him. I was 7 months pregnant at the time. He had planned to leave for this woman. But she found out through me that he still had a wife and a baby on the way and quickly ended their plan to be together. I wasn't the one that wanted this divorce. I want to work things out, but he filed for divorce in his home state SD. He said that I drove his girlfriend away because I reported him to his CO.
