I've always been bothered by sitcoms jokes that go way over my head. Then when I don't understand them I feel dumb, because the audience is obviously laughing at something I failed to get.

In an episode of married with children Al Bundy is in his shoe store trying to get an overweight woman into a pair of shoes. This is the dialogue.

Woman : I don't understand. Before aerobics, I used to fit in a size 6. I guess all that jumping expanded my feet.
Al: I see you've must've fallen on your butt a time or two. Woman: How dare you say that to my face!
Al: Well, I'd say it behind your back, but my car's only got a half tank of gas!

What does Al bundy means when he says he;d say behind her back but his car's only got half a tank of gas. Does that joke have a meaning, or is that a random comment? I don't get it. Does anyone?

the commercial is for ING DIRECT which sells online banking and financial services. me and my sister want to know the guy is in the tv adverts. we know he looks familiar. we think he used to be on a soap. if anyone can tell us who he is and who he played it would be greatly appreciated.

Nearly every episode of every show we get here is spoiled majorly by the 'next week' preview at the end of the epidode we just watched. There's no suspence in Lost because you can guess the ending. We just got 'Every man for himself' of lost and the promo for next week was 'are they still on that island' was this the same in America, did they give away the ending a week earlier? Please no spoilers for lost as we have only seen up to every man for himself

Dont ask why this popped into my head but the word "far-fig-newton" (no clue how to spell it so I spelt it fonetically) has been bugging me all day long. I know its from a kid movie or show I used to watch but I cant figure it out. I think it was used as a insult but i could be completely wrong. Does this word sound familiar to anyone? On the second or third episode of what about brian season 1 and the Lost season 3 episode 'every man for himself' did you notice that Deena's daughter was watching the same swan tv show that Jack was watching while he was in the Hydra station? I thought that this was a good cross over, it was very subtle, like on Alias season 4 when Sydney was at the airport and and Oceanic flight was taking off

did any watch louise redknapp on tv last night and think she was a bit of a hypocrite.
