My son has an acoustic as well as an electric guitar, the latter is a Strat style, by Fender. He wants a third guitar, another electric, because he keeps the electric that he's got at school and it's too much wear and tear to take it home every night.

One person suggested a Les Paul type guitar, but a real one is too expensive. I'm looking at an Ibanez GAX-70, used. Also wondered if a semi-hollow would be a good complement to what could now be considered a "collection" of guitars. There's an Epiphone "Dot" that's not too expensive, even for new. Any opinions?

There were a great many songs that have been written in response to the attack on the World Trade Center . Two examples would be “Have You Forgotten ?” by Darryl Worley and “Where were you when the world stopped turning ?” by Alan Jackson . How many songs like these have been written, and why haven't they been collected on a series of CDs ?

I already play guitar, which I realise probably doesn't have much bearing on how quickly I'd pick it up. I'd be teaching myself, as I don't really have the time or patience for lessons.

So to people who already play, how hard would it be, and is it even feasible to teach myself?

Thanks.

This has always been one of the longest running jokes regarding music, when popular songs are mutilated into Muzak and piped into the steel cage that takes us to the top floor. However, I can’t remember too many times of late that I’ve actually heard music on an elevator. It seems to have gone extinct like the phone booth. The last time for me was a Staybridge Suites in Ohio. The song was Tainted Love and I nearly died laughing.

Which band do you like the most.

Me I personally like both bands but if I had to pick I would pick Judas Priest mainly because I know more songs by them than Iron Maiden and because I can understand Judas Priest songs better than Iron Maiden's songs. But I do like both bands they are in my top 15 fav bands

I'm going to suprise my husband with a strip tease and lap dance that I've been learning in that kind of aerobics class - in class it's just kinda lame music with no words.....I thought of "You Can Leave Your Hat On" by Joe Cocker from 9 1/2 weeks but it doesn't fit the routine....But I need something along those lines.....something by Prince? George Michael? Nothing too fast........Thanks!!

In the 1998 "Christmas Attic" album by Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO), the "Christmas Canon" song was performed by a children's choir, The Choristers, St. Bartholomew's Church, New York City. The choir consisted of five boys and five girls. However, in the 1999 TV movie "The Ghosts of Christmas Eve," which also features a TSO children's choir performing the "Christmas Canon" song, the choir consists of eight girls and only two boys. Is that choir still The Choristers of St. Bartholomew's Church in New York City? What are the names of the eight girls and two boys in the choir?

Might as well continue last week’s theme regarding industrial music. It got me thinking about all these great bands, most of who are no longer together. I chose these five because they were the ones that got discovered right after Pretty Hate Machine came out. Here’s how I’d rank them.

Machines of Loving Grace – Three incredible albums then done. Remind me to list this band the next time one of those group reunion questions come up.
Gravity Kills – Never were able to sustain success after their hit first album. Then again, this is no surprise since TVT Records, the ones that managed to destroy WaxTrax!, signed them.
Stabbing Westward – Probably had the most name recognition.
Course of Empire – Flew under the radar but had one of the angriest songs I’ve ever heard, Infested! Also had their career derailed by TVT.
Filter – After their first album, they drifted away from their Trent-ness and veered into Dawson’s Creek territory with that awful song, Take a Picture.

For those who don't know that stands for
New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, a metal movement that exploded out of england in the late 1970's which was spearheaded by bands like Iron Maiden & Def Leppard
But also included some lesser known yet still bonecrushingly awesome bands like
Praying Mantis
Angel Witch
Saxon
Witchfinder General
So are there any NWOBHM Fans Here?

It's lunch time and I'm starving. And the salad that I have in the fridge is sensible, but not my first choice, as usual...

So could you make a meal using any or all of these: a band's name, or a song or album name?

For example, the first thing that popped into my head when thinking about this question was Jimmie's Chicken Shack.
