My band, which plays mainly top 40 and 80's rock is looking to spice it up a bit by incorporating the use of congas and maybe timbales in the rhythm section. The percussionist is awesome and we really want to showcase his talent. We are looking for rock songs that we can cover that use congas and timbales, excluding Satana songs, we know about those. Both were from Ohio, you see, is why I ask.
Bootsy Collins was from Cincinnati and the Ohio Players were all from Dayton. I am kind of partial to talent and creativity from my own state, especially even my area.
Bootsy sang "the Junkie", and wrote the Cincinnati Bengals' fi\new fight song.
The Ohio Players sang "Fire", and "Funky Worm", and Honey" and "Roller Coaster", etc.

Sorry for the vagueness, I don't really know how to describe them.
the "Noises" I refer to are the random things that Iv'e heard on albums made with the guitar that I don't know how to do. The only one I know how to name is the Whammydrive, and I can't do it. The only one I CAN do is when you scrape the pick up the lower 3 strings making a screech. how do I do some sounds such as the end of "The Beast and the Harlot" or any others like that?

I'm considering getting the Epiphone LD Les Paul Special II electric guitar to begin with. I've read on several websites that it's a great starter guitar (as well as an overall guitar) and so, it's my top candidate. And on top of that, the reviews for this guitar are very good.

Now, my problem is that I'm unfimiliar with amplifiers. What kind of amp would be good with this guitar? My budget for the amp is 100-150 USD.

But then I read on another website that buying a *guitar-amp pack* isn't a good idea and that you're better off buying them seperate.
