What's a good ZZ Top album for the casual fan?

Hmmmm, if you like their newer 'dance' type stuff, try Eliminator (Gimme All Your Lovin, Sharp Dressed Man, Legs), or if you like the older stuff, try Tres Hombres (Beer Drinkers Hell Raisers, The Grange) or Deguello (Cheap Sunglasses, I Thank You). I have an awesome greatest hits double CD called Rancho Texicano - that has all of their hits and lots of awesome songs that didn't get as much airplay!

Eliminator is the album that broke it open for the three boys from Tejas. This album is definitely a good place to start. The song T.V. Dinner on side two is awesome.
Also the album Recycler with My Heads in Mississippi is another killer album resurrecting their carear. That album has Rough Boy,2000 Blues and Concrete and Steel on it.

For "the Casual Fan," start off with Eliminator,
because it isn't watered down or sellout like
perhaps some of the newer sound (clarification:
this sound is forced upon the artists, please understand),
and it isn't so commitment-to-the-purity as the
older stuff, so as to chance scaring the casual
listener off.

My opinion. Also: "I Need You Tonight" is one of
my absolute fave blues tunes. And I'm commited
to the old, old school.
